Morton really did pitch well. The inning he gave up 3 he didn't get some pitches called strikes that were which put him in a hole such that he had to come over the plate and ended up giving up 2 HR's with the 3rd run on an error..

Bullpen was outstanding in holding the tie until the Bucco's finally got a couple of runs.

Polanco getting hot........ to go along with Cutch, Kang, Marte, Cervelli, Walker, Pedro + Aramis.......they should score some runs. If the starting pitching can hold up, the bull pen has been pretty strong.

To beat the Mets in NY two games in a row rolling out their 3rd and 4th starter.....not bad.

Don't forget that Harrison and Mercer will probably be back this week. It amazes me how much some people bitch about this team. They are not perfect, but what team is? I still have not given up on the division. The schedule the past 10 days has been brutal with the Cubs,Dodgers,Cardinals, and Mets and the Pirates will do no worse than 7-4. It's time that some people accept that, warts and all, this is a damn good baseball team! The thing to keep in mind is that the Pirates get the Cardinals at home the last week of the season. If the Buccos can get to that final week within two games,I like their chances.

When you have the 3rd best record in baseball with 48 games to go you are a very good team. I agree we can still win the Division, but I have been saying for some time, and firmly believe, it won't matter. This team will make the playoffs and if we go in as a wild card we will win that game and play the Cards. I personally know 2 Card fans who do not look forward to that possibility and I can understand their concern. This team can beat anyone in the playoffs and they will. The Bucs will play in, and win, the 2015 World Series.

This is great! Now what is the record against the 2 bottom-dwellers in their own division. Honestly, I worry more about playing Milwaulkie than I do the Dodgers or Mets.
No matter what I say or the Pirates do, we cannot stop a "worry wart".

8-15 against Mil and Cinn. If it was 15-8 the Pirates would be 1/2 game ahead of the Cards.
My point exactly. And yes, I shall claim worry wort status on this one...having the 2nd best record in the NL should get you more than a 1-game play-in where one bad pitch can ruin an entire season.

Yeah and the Mets are 0 - 12 against the Pirates and Cubs so far, yet the Mets lead their division by four and a half games. Statistical anomalies exist all over the MLB.

If you're going to worry about something, worry about the substantial increase in ERA in the second half of the season, not about anomalies.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, StL is 16-8 against Cinti and Milw. Taking care of business.

If the Pirates season ends in the wild card on account of one bad pitch, they have nobody to blame but themselves. Don't lose to garbage all year, and you don't need to worry about it.

When anyone or any team fails to finish where they aspire they have no one to blame but themselves ....

Regarding sports, it sometimes comes down to matchups. Some teams just perform better or worse against teams in expectantly. Happens all the time.
