I was right... after Gross-Matos made huge sack around the 5 forcing 3rd and long in first qtr he WAS removed and Indy QB ran for first down on next play. Just seemed absurd at the time... seemed more so when I re-watched.
As to Miller... he played a lot and made a couple plays and he did get injured around the 6:30 mark of the 3rd qtr..,. but he was back in by the 5:30 mark. He was mostly ineffective all day but did make a critical play in last Indy drive... after which he hobbled off, collapsed to ground on his back. No idea if just exhausted or hurt.
Do we win that game if their better QB (Pinnick?) goes out? Ramsey played tough but his backup was clearly a step better (imo).
That sideline play where the ref (who had clear view and made emphatic call) ruled receiver (who should have been called for an obvious push-off) knee touched before he got OOB. [And is that reviewable??]
Question to board on the rule: If you hold ball over the OOB line (let's call it the sideline version of the goal line) while you're still in play, are you considered OOB? Logic says no (thinking about a guy tussling with a defender and runner's arm -- with ball in it -- crosses over the plane but he then swings back and breaks away for a big gain... can't see him being ruled OOB. So I'm guessing that the ball has to touch OOB ground before the knee touched... and it didn't. Correct call (using my reasoning).
Is Gross-Matos ok? He got hurt near the end and hobbled off?
On the targeting call ( which is gonna hurt like hell the first 30 mins vs iowa), I found myself thinking that if everyone is saying 'i dunno, it's really close' that maybe a full game suspension is kinda harsh. Just sayin...
OK, nuff said.
