PSU commit and DB Antonio Branch Jr. decides to take a visit to the University of Colorado. While there he decided to change his pledge to the Buffaloes.
Indiana commit and DB Byron Baldwin decided to take a visit to the University of Colorado earlier in Sept. The system indicates that he has an offer from Colorado. He returns home still committed to IU.
PSU now offers Baldwin. Much like with Gompers, I don't believe we make this offer unless we feel we have a serious chance to flip their commitment. Baldwin is also a higher rated prospect than Branch Jr. per composite rankings.
We shall see if this strategy bears fruit.....
But building on that, is Balwin being offered because PSU likes him as a Safety, or because PSU just wants another DB in the class and it doesn't matter if it's a CB or Safety?
But when I look at the roster, with the potential to lose both Reed and Winston after this season, the Safety room might look somewhat thin on numbers (Wheatley, Lane, Payne, Toure and Dinkins, and the current commit Thomas). They already moved Belgrave-Shorter from CB to Safety. Maybe after moving B-S to Safety and how he has looked there, along with how Lane and Toure have progressed, the new plan is to add another CB instead of a true Safety.....
