"Pepper Hamilton has ended all official ties to former FBI director Louis Freeh with the spinoff of the law firm’s subsidiary, Freeh Group International Solutions.

Freeh, who joined Pepper Hamilton in 2012 and spent about two years as its chairman, left Pepper Hamilton in January to rejoin his old law firm, Freeh Sporkin & Sullivan. But Freeh’s risk management consulting company Freeh Group International had remained a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepper Hamilton despite Freeh’s departure. That changed as of March 31, the firm confirmed.

“Effective March 31, 2016, Pepper transferred ownership of Freeh Group International Solutions (FGIS) to Louie J. Freeh,” the firm said in a statement. “Pepper and FGIS have enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship [LMAO - TWO YEARS? Long and mutually beneficial? :) ], and we are pleased that this transaction will allow us to continue to work together to benefit our clients, while giving both firms more flexibility. We wish Louie and the FGIS team every success going forward. [So long as he fumigates the stench he left behind in our offices LOL]”

It wasn’t clear what flexibility the two companies were looking for moving forward. Pepper Hamilton is currently in merger discussions with 1,600-lawyer Reed Smith. The firm declined to comment on whether those merger discussions had anything to do with the split with Freeh Group International or what matters the two firms may continue to team up for.

Freeh had been and continues to be the chairman of Freeh Group International, which has 15 consultants across offices in New York and Wilmington, Delaware. Among the group’s risk management services are assisting with governance, compliance and anti-corruption programs [No further comment necessary]; conducting internal investigations; and creating safety and security programs.

Pepper Hamilton had confirmed in January that Freeh left the firm. When the nearly dozen lawyers of Freeh Sporkin joined Pepper Hamilton in 2012, the firms coined the deal as a merger. But upon Freeh’s departure from the firm, Pepper Hamilton said it was not a merger and that Freeh Sporkin never officially disbanded despite being inactive for several years. Freeh simply restarted his old law firm, albeit with far fewer attorneys. And Pepper Hamilton said at the time that Freeh Group International would remain a wholly owned subsidiary of the firm. [We all remember that doozy - right? When Freeh began to be inundated with subpoenas]

According to Freeh Sporkin’s website, Eugene R. Sullivan and Eugene R. Sullivan II also left Pepper Hamilton to rejoin Freeh Sporkin as partners [ie "GET THE F OUT!!'].

James Bucknam, who had ties to both Freeh Group International and Freeh Sporkin before the firms joined Pepper Hamilton, had remained an attorney with Pepper Hamilton after Freeh left the firm earlier this year, and Bucknam continued on in his role as CEO of Freeh Group International throughout that time. With the spinoff of Freeh Group International, however, Bucknam is no longer affiliated with Pepper Hamilton or Freeh Sporkin, maintaining only his role as CEO of Freeh Group International, according to all of the entities’ websites. Bucknam was not immediately available for comment Friday.

Of the remaining lawyers who joined Pepper Hamilton from Freeh Sporkin, four are no longer with the firm and three remain. Thomas Souther, a white-collar partner in New York and Benjamin F. Scotti, a white-collar of counsel in Los Angeles, are still with Pepper Hamilton. John G. Rahie remains of counsel in Pepper Hamilton’s white-collar group in Detroit and also maintains his managing director role with Freeh Group International, according to websites.

Excuse my ignorance on the legal and business ramifications of this announcement but how does this impact our cause against Lyin' Louie, the NCAA and the BoT?

Nope. It doesn't.

But it does provide some insight as to how his "close business partners" view an ongoing relationship with His Honor Louis Freeh.

In the meantime....our (PSU) leaders - - - - including our "good friend"s Master - - - - continue to suckle to his work like he was Divine Incarnate

Draw your own conclusions
