Without question, I am saddened by the fact that there will be no Fall football. It is something I always look forward to, particularly PSU. But as much as the players , coaches and fans want football, there is a reality that cannot be overlooked. 160,000 Americans have succumbed to this horror within a period of six months. That is frightening and the prospect of 300,000 is being predicted as a real possibility! The possibility of death overrides my enthusiasm. I would not want fan enthusiasm or the financial needs of our institution to result in the infection/illness or even death of any of our student athletes. And, if we were to proceed with the season, think of the liability issues that could arise if student athletes get seriously ill or tragically succumb to the virus.

I also find it interesting that the SEC and ACC are not yet willing to follow the lead. Yet, they represent the very geographical areas where the virus has been rampant because of ignoring reality for seemingly political reasons. Go figure.

Further, I also find it interesting that there seems to be no talk about the student athletes attending class and continuing with their education. I have heard statements such as: they can continue to use the facilities and train - but no mention of being students. Maybe I missed it.

I will miss the games and the whiteout. But this shall pass. But we msut do the right thing until the virus is dealt with successfully.

Just my ramblings.

Well, when the other conferences play and have little to no issues, I hope you will be man enough to come back on this board and say you were an idiot.

8/10 are from people over the age of 65. Not playing football in the fall isn’t going to save the student athletes from contracting or dying from the virus.

Are you disputing the fact that 8/10 deaths from COVID-19 are over the age of 65? That is a reported figure from the CDC. Didn't know having a differing opinion was anti-science... but then again we live in the age of cancel culture.

The COVID virus is hitting all age groups, including children. In fact, there is an upsurge in infection rates with young children. Your figure may be right or wrong (you should know that statistics can be distorted and misleading), The point is that many people of all ages are dying. Playing football (I surely will miss it) is putting them in harm's way which was the basis for the NCAA decision. The SEC and ACC are located in states which have in too many instances not complied with CDC recommendations, hence the very high infection rates. Why should that same mentality then stop conference play? So you disagree with the NCAA and what they research on the situation, I guess. Okay, that's fair. That is your opinion. But keep in mind the number of young baseball players that have been infected, the cancellation of much of the NBA and hockey playoffs until only recently. And with infection will come some death, surely as you indicated, much less with younger athletes and individuals. As far as the merchants go, I have some sympathy for them. But then again
they don't think twice about jacking up the cost of a motel room for the weekend from $200 to over $1000. Makes it hard to feel sorry for that group.

New Jersey has more deaths than Florida and Georgia combined. New York has double the amount of deaths of New Jersey. California has more deaths than Florida and Cali has been on lockdown for a long time. There have been 79k cases in Florida between the age of 15-24. Hospitalization rate for that group is less than 1%

Listen to what our esteemed B1G Commissioner said. He did not note any medical finding as a reason for the action, instead he noted unknowns and questions with no answer. In short he cites fear of harm and no evidence of harm. Science? Spare me.

In other words, yet another clueless, overpaid bureaucrat!

There are 103 million Americans 25 or younger. A total of 232 have died from coronavirus. Screw your cancel culture.

Oh boy. those states have much higher populations that some of those states. And NY and NJ have flatlined for the past two months because of shutdown and strict mask rules.

Like I said Dave, all you need to do is indemnify the Big Ten and all this will be settled. When you writing that check?? lol

And no criteria for when a return to play would be permitted. No way they play in the spring and if no vaccine, is 2021 not happening? No one in media even thinks to ask these questions. I would ask Warren if a 50% effective vaccine will be acceptable. What’s wrong with asking that question?

ONLY 232! Gee, that's comforting, unless of course it was someone close to you. Take a trip to the local ICU or ER. I have. Talk to ER nurses and ICU doctors. I have. Some are my patients. Your cavalier attitude may change. Like I said, statistics can be misleading. It does not take into account the number currently infected and in hospitals, many of whom will succumb. And the notion of a cancel culture is childish.

That is at least a reasonable complaint. This is all new territory. They are figuring it out on the fly. There was much discussion of just those issues on the Big Ten network. And by the way, all this crying and outpouring about the players and coaches wanting to play may be the case, but I think the loss of revenue may be the real issue.

This is fear mongering. You are hysterical, what are you even trying to say? You seem to be predicting a mass death event of 25 and younger in this country from COVID-19. There seems to be no evidence of that.

No, if they play and have serious issues then I will. Your last sentence was really not well thought out and makes you sound like a complete fool. I’m a prick for calling someone an idiot...makes sense.SMH

Yup. My interactions with you today prove you are a mental weakling.

What? This is supposed to be a serious argument? It is emotional BS. Tens of thousands die every year in car accidents , but no one would try to use this line as an excuse to shut down our highways.

Wow. Turn off CNN.

Obviously the virus is serious. But is the "160,000 Americans have succumbed to this horror..." accurate?. The statistics have been skewed due to the counting of anyone that dies of anything that has Covid, or has had Covid, is being counted as having died from Covid. Just like counting cases of Covid counts those that tested positive but have had no symptoms at all.

"The possibility of death overrides my enthusiasm." Better temper your enthusiasm for red meat, and high cholesterol food as well, as it's reported that 647,000 Americans die of heart disease each year. And stay off the roads as if you are not over 65 you likely have a better chance of dying in a car accident than from Covid. Start building the rubber rooms stocked with granola for those too scared to face the threats of everyday life .....

You sound like the guy that gave the play by play for the Hindenburg.....

A very good friend and his wife contracted COVID-19, both are 56 years old. It took her three weeks to fully recover and it took him just over three weeks. Both are in exceptional condition and both have no underlying conditions. My girlfriends brother (71 years old) a retired doctor contracted COVID-19. He had several health issues before contracting the virus. He was in the hospital for three months, induced coma and ventilator. He survived and lives to talk about his journey to recovery. Are we to believe that 19-23 year old football players can’t bounce back if they get sick. This is about potential lawsuits from parents and athletes. If the House and Senate passed “Tort Reform” this would be a non-issue.

I wonder if there would be less vitriol on the board if there were the ability to upvote and downvote posts. Now, the only way to express disapproval is to post a 'clever' retort and call the other poster a maroon.

Son, you are as sharp as a bowling ball.

No. Many people of all ages are not dying.

The count of kids... 1 to 14 that died is around 20 in the entire United States. Not accounting for preconditions.

232 deaths out of 103 million means one out of 444,000. How many deaths in this age group from suicide, flu, car accidents, drug overdose, etc...

The worthless lockdowns have ruined the futures for millions of kids. Many of these kids will die of suicides and drug overdoses because of the insane lockdowns.

The lockdowns were and still are more harmful than the virus. I can't believe people even question something this f'ing obvious.
