1)1993- first time seeing Michigan at Beaver Stadium-- close game where we got stopped at goal line twice similar to our Alabama Sugar Bowl (21-13), the post game arrogance spewed by them about Michigan Men and how we were stepchildren in Big 10. I wasn't paranoid enough to realize ref favoritism to Michigan which became clear over next two decades.

2) Forget the year- maybe next time, Beaver Stadium warning for penalty
for crowd noise-- never seen before or since-- Zebras basically intimidating PSU and Joe that Michigan needs quiet stadium to operate(like when they are home). Little did the big 10 know that we would re-define crowd noise in college football and we would decide if you are going to hear snap count!!

3)1999--- PSU leading 27-17 in 4th quarter and was about to seize momentum and put game away and stopped Michigan on third down and phantom holding call on Brandon Short was called-(he was nowhere near play and if hold happened it could not be seen on tv replays)- challenge any Michigan fan to find the hold -- was total bs-- the extra possession allowed an unknown arrogant Michigan man named Tom Brady or something to beat us in last minutes-- give the win to the refs!!

4)2005-- the game that accelerated instant replay in big10. The sideline warnings on Tom Bradley for refs marking first down beyond where ball carrier went down, not measuring and emphatically signaling first down. Game where refs added seconds to clock to give an extra play to help Mich win on play beyond regulation, and where a reception out of bounds in end of game drive was also given. We were jobbed out of a national title game by this one bizarro
Referine virtuoso. Joepa who was a good sportsman couldn't take it anymore and East coast media exposed the old boys club and refs being too cozy with Michigan and Big 10 commish.

5)2016-- PSU hurting mightily for scholarship players and injuries due to the unfair sanctions-yr5-playing with half to two thirds of a team- essentially punishing players who had nothing to do with anything-- Harbaugh running up score and getting tds with 4th string PSU linebackers (last bodies remaining)- scored with 6 min and 3 min to run up,score to 49. Now Michigan Barbie(Winowich) and Lavert flip the bird Hill are emotionally distressed when Franklin and Moorehead and Saquon returned the favor last year--

Will be a tough game-- but PSU players-- please know how much it's been us vs a corrupt Big 10, NCAA-- we will get screwed if it's a close game-- play the best game possible and we have nothing to lose--- no matter what happens, our recruiting is now light years over Michigan and they won't have a chance next few years-- they "lead series 13-8. Two of those were wins for refs, so in reality it is 11-10. Let's go State and take no prisoners Saturday- demolish the renta QB and stop the run game and McSorley can salute in the quiet house!!!

And they have Desmond Howard...nuff said.
....Desmond Howard has a degree from the Harvard of the Midwest.....watching him every week and all the nonsensical things that come out of his mouth if you can understand him must make Michigan U so proud:rolleyes:

One more reason: the arrogance to think PSU fans whine...

Go figure.

(And yes, they’ve gotten some really odd breaks)

I don't know how anyone can watch more than 2 minutes of that clown show. After 30 seconds of Corso trying to get 3 words out I turn the channel. It's pathetic.

Corso has had some strokes, that he is still there is great. Lay off those with a handicap.

Age takes its toll on everyone and decreases their ability to do their job effectively. The fact that Gameday treats him like their pet is sad and unnecessary. Kirk pats him on the head and gives him a treat. There is no dignity in what they’re doing with him.

Pretty sure Corso wants to keep working. I don't watch much game day and he doesn't bother me.

Lou Holtz' Domer love schtick used to bug me a hell of lot more.

I mention this on here from time to time:

My father's uncle was the President of the Victors Club. In 1994, he hosted us for the game weekend and we went to the Victors tailgate. Most fans at the tailgate were great. Some were obviously old and clueless about football but friendly. Several others were just amazingly provincial as if they had 10 national championship trophies gleaming somewhere. Real arrogant bastards who viewed Penn State as some type of lightweight. Anyway, it was a great game - Collins to Engram. A lot of fun with my cousins who were gracious hosts. We even went to the opening night of basketball practice and had a conversation with Steve Fischer. Great time.

My father's uncle ended the night by telling me 'he didn't like many of the Michigan fans'. HE WAS THE FREAKIN' PRESIDENT OF THE VICTORS CLUB!

Enough said.

Disagree that Lou was still sharp in his last few years. He compared Rich Rodriguez to Hitler.

He was too biased to be on a national program. He would have been a better fit on NBC-Sports.

The crowd noise call happened in 1993 as well. I was at that game and it was loud but nothing like what it would be now.

F Michigan and F the Big 10.

All the instances mentioned are good reasons to be pissed about Michigan and the B1G Admin. I'm not a fan of either.

The one that always gets me is from 2000, out there.... they were up 27-11 with just seconds to play, ran a play to our 1 yard line - good for us, we stopped them from scoring. But then the Weaselrines (Carr) called time out with 1 second on the clock, in order to score another TD! They did score. Sure, we did not stop them, but that was secondary to the crass lack of sportsmanship. They won 33-11.
We all saw Joe have the O take a knee countless times in those circumstances (players making their own decisions aside, McQ in '96(?) and Tony Cappozoli 20 years earlier, e.g.). Of course Joe downplayed the late TD, at least to the public, as he always did, with class and dignity. Same as he did when Ohio State threw a pass and scored a meaningless TD very late in the game where Adam T. was injured. To expect other coaches to show the same level of respect when facing Joe was just too much to expect much of the time.

The 2016 game doesn't really bother me - we were undermanned, they did most all of their scoring in the 1st half, and that game now represents the last of the sanctions implications and the very next week started the 'new' Lions that we have grown to expect huge things from each week. Sort of like it used to be!

I'm not optimistic for Saturday, but I expect far more from us this week than I did two years ago out there.

At least he could finish a sentence. Not sure he was too biased...they’re all biased, but Lou spoke very highly of all programs.

Every Michigan fan I know or have encountered personally is/has been an arrogant jerk.
Here in the fine village of Archbold, OH with a population around 4,500, we have a fair mix of B1G fans. Majority are ohowIhate fans, then Michigan, followed by Notre Dame/MSU.
I must be the outlier.
I have never had a Michigan fan treat me with disrespect. Never had a Michigan fan give me hassles due to Sandusky scandal. Never had a Michigan fan get in my face after a win or loss (I believe it reached 7 losses in a row to Michigan and never had anyone give me crapola).
Now, go to the red and gray team!
Holy Hannah, ladies and gentlemen.
2005 - we've not played many night games. If that was on a neutral field, we would have beat you.
Every coach should be fired because they knew what Sandusky was doing. Crickets when LJ and Schiano were hired in Columbass.
2009 a former student/player now friend and my financial guy gives me his tickets to Michigan game. My son and I are sitting in the midst of the wrestling letterman - cauliflower ear gave them away and my friend was a wrestler at Michigan. Michigan scores on first drive. Kids my sons age - around 10/12 - turn and cheer looking at us. Fathers just smile. Penn State and Daryl Clark thump the Michigan team from that point, and the surroundings we had in the second half were quiet and abandoned.
No comparison. NONE.
I am tailgating Saturday with a friend who is a season ticket holder for Michigan. This may be the first time I get grief. But, it will be the FIRST TIME.
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but living in Ohio's NW corner (15 minutes to Michigan and 25 miles to Indiana) it really is only the OhowIhate fans that are ruthless asshats.
Never met #Anison, but the Michigan fans I have encountered here in Archbold seem to have his demeanor.

OL

Before PSU started playing ND, I rooted for ND. After experiencing ND fans, I now root consistently against ND.
Same thing with Michigan. Once I actually experienced so many of their snarky, taunting fans, I cannot root for them.

I don't know how anyone can watch more than 2 minutes of that clown show. After 30 seconds of Corso trying to get 3 words out I turn the channel. It's pathetic.
It’s not offensive as background at a sports bar, tailgate, etc. on game day, when not actually focused on the show.

I don’t think I know anyone who’s watched it in another context.

LOL. It was pass interference, and Short was covering the slot receiver that the pass was thrown to (ie, he was right in the middle of the play).

What year was the bad Bryant Johnson call that went against us despite replay showing he was in and Michigan's heel toe ruling giving them a reception?

It's not fair to generalize, but that isn't going to stop me.

Every Michigan fan I know or have encountered personally is/has been an arrogant jerk.

It's OK. It is not a generalization if every Michigan fan you know is an arrogant jerk. It is a characteristic.

Or it would be a characteristic if Michigan fans had any character.

Erial_Lion is correct on the dates. A replay for the viewers at home did show TJ being clearly in, without question. But there was no IR in 2002 to overturn the call. That blatantly wrong, game changing call, along with some similar calls in the Iowa game led Paterno to push for Instant Replay. It started first in the Big 10, and a year later in the rest of the conferences. Another reason to be thankful for Joe!

Granted, even if IR was available in 2002, they likely would have ignored it like they did in 2005 when Avant was clearly out and it wasn't reviewed.

One play that often is forgotten (because Penn State actually won the game) but is indicative of what the Lions have faced in games against the skunks occurred in the Rich Rod years, 2008, I think.

Michigan was leading through most of the first half, and near the end of the half had the ball inside the PSU 10. Out of timeouts. the skunks ran a play up the middle for no gain ... then suddenly the referee stops the clock! No first down ... not OOB ... no timeout for Michigan. Yet the ref stopped the clock. It allowed Michigan time to get the FG team on. Luckily for PSU, the Lions blew out the skunks in the 2nd half.

We Penn State fans understand that calls can be made incorrectly ... we understand human error. However, too often the calls made in Penn State games versus Michigan (and lately versus OSU) have been the types that defy any logic or human error. From bouncing balls counted as receptions or interceptions, to extending the play clock 4 seconds to allow a FG, to OOB catches called in bounds and the converse of that, to refs actually calling timeouts for UM and OSU -- these bizarro world calls that are never seen elsewhere are the ones that get our goat.

And when somebody offers up the mandatory "the calls even out" mantra, they always go back to 1982 ... or at best to 1997 vs Minnesota. Odd, is it not, that no one can ever cite a game-impacting call in favor of Penn State to beat Michigan or OSU?

Funny. That is what Pitt fans say about you all: Nitt fans have no character and they are all arrogant jerks.

Might have something to do with the head to head records...

Out of all the issues you posted... there is no doubt.,.#2... where we were penalized because our crowd was too loud... will go down as one of the most incredibly ridiculous , absurd , blatant biased calls I have ever witnessed in sports...

1. Yep.
2. I was there and Joe had to run down to our section to get us to quiet down. I never understood why that happened. Still don't....
3. Don't remember that one
4. Refs should have been fired, similar to the OSU game(2014?)...
5. Eh. I say foot on the pedal to the end.

Funny. That is what Pitt fans say about you all: Nitt fans have no character and they are all arrogant jerks.

Apples and oranges. PSU has dominated Pitt for the last 50 years.

Despite unjust and undeserved sanctions, PSU/Michigan is close, and PSU would likely have the lead if all games had been fairly officiated.

if all anyone ever did was judge a group of people by this message board, then it'd be pretty easy to conclude you all are a petty, hateful bunch with all your hottakes about "big ten conspiracies", "scUM and skunkbear" references and other nonsensical hate speech. Fortunately, I've had the pleasure of visiting Happy Valley multiple times and have tailgated on 3 occasions on grounds near Beaver Stadium. Every personal appearance I've made at PSU has been filled with good times, laughter, slaps on the back, camaraderie and graciousness from our hosts. Very much like my experiences at Iowa, Nebraska and Ole Miss, to name a few. Too bad the banter before a big game isn't limited to good ole fashioned smack talk.

Wasn't long ago you guys were taking shots at Michigan and Harbaugh. I've noticed you've quieted down a lot lately. For 3 years we had very little leadership at the most important position - QB. Last year's starters Brandon Peters and John O'Korn would literally be 4th and 5th stringers on this team behind Shea, McCaffrey, and Milton. Harbaugh finally has his guys in the most important positions and that won't change anytime soon.

My guess is that the very formidable DL of PSU will keep the Nits in the game for 1H. Whether or not McSorley will be able to use his feet effectively against a speedy UM defense remains to be seen. I doubt it. Michigan is getting healthy exactly at the right time of year with Tarik Black and Aubrey Solomon healed up and that should cause concern. In my view, Windsor v Ruiz is the key match-up to keep an eye on.

Two great programs doing battle. Love it. UM 27, PSU 16. Looking forward to Harbaugh adding yet another "W" over CJF to make it 3-1 head to head. #GoBlue

The refs are always corrupt when Michigan is relevant, the last few years the games have been fairly called. Its amazing they have gotten away with this thievery for so many years.

Its the same thing every time Michigan is in the hunt for a championship.Blatant holding by Michigan is never called unless the game is out of reach.Phantom offensive holding against Penn State after they make a big play.
The other trick by John O' Neal and his Big Ten cohorts is a BS. Pass Interference call against us and no call on The secondary of Michigan after mugging a PSU receiver.

I hope Franklin stands up to these clowns and dosent tolerate their shenanigans.

On a side note Gerry Dinardo said Our offensive line isnt very good and our weakness lol Has he watched them play yet.
I have been watching PSU football a long time. These guys are some tough hombres and damn good athletes.

Go State!
