Unfortunately, I can't make it out to New Jersey today. I wanted to make sure I got to the Big 33 and with such a busy weekend coming up, plus the fact that Monday was a travel day for me, today was the day that I had to go to Hershey. I should have updates from the Big 33 for you all tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm hoping to speak with everyone after practice this afternoon, but I may have to wait until after their pep rally tonight. I also have multiple friends/colleagues that'll be at PSU's sat camp, so I'll know if anyone really impresses today.
When it comes to today's camp, 2018 QB Artur Sitkowski is the top 2017/2018 prospect in attendance. Now that Jurkovec has committed to Notre Dame, I'll be very curious to see what PSU does with Sitkowski. I've always been very high on Artur. Great young man, very mature for his age. He'll be a great leader. It's just all about whether he fits what Moorhead is trying to do. I think if PSU is going to offer, they have to do it soon. They're already behind with Sitkowski, but he's always spoken very highly about the school and staff.
There are a few other players that I'm also still trying to learn more about. Below are a few other names to keep an eye on.
DE Antonio Alfano - FILM - Oradell, N.J. - Bergen Catholic - 2019
- Already holds two offers from Boston College and Rutgers. Probably has the highest ceiling of anyone in attendance today. We'll be talking about him a lot more this time next year. Probably even before that. Has also been on campus already.
LB Javar Garrett - FILM - Highstown, N.J. - The Peddle School - 2018
- May be the best 2018 prospect, aside from Sitkowski, expected to be in attendance. Holds four early early offers - including Indiana, Rutgers and Temple. Has also been doing really well on the camp circuit this summer, too. Has been to Indiana, Louisville, Pitt, Rutgers and Temple.
Ath. Amad Anderson - FILM - Staten Island, N.Y. - Curtis - 2018
- Holds two offers from Rutgers and Syracuse. I've heard good things from a few colleagues. Definitely someone to keep in mind. I get the vibe that he could become a Plan B type player in the 2018 class.
WR Nyquee Hawkins - FILM - Orange, N.J. - Orange - 2019
- Another notable freshman in New Jersey. Should start collecting offers in the fall. He also camped with PSU last summer and tested really well.
Saf. Jermaine Wilder - FILM - Wayne, N.J. - Passaic County Tech - 2017
- Holds five FCS offers and has been to PSU in the past. His size worries a lot of bigger schools, but he's a solid athlete.
DB Jarrett Paul - FILM - Middle Village, N.Y. - Christ the King - 2018
- Solid and improving player, but I'd be surprised if PSU would ultimately become the first program to offer Paul. Has a growing relationship with Terry Smith.
