I caught up with punter Blake Gillikin from Atlanta (Ga.) Westminster last night to discuss the Penn State offer he received during Friday's visit. He makes it sound like PSU made a strong impression and the coaches are really selling how they want him to come in as a true freshman and be ready to compete for the punting job right away, which also appeals to him.
He's set to visit Vanderbilt next. He'll also visit Georgia and Wisconsin after that. Then Gillikin has plans to announce a verbal commitment on either June 18 or 19.
Tough to say where each school stands right now. He really likes Wisconsin, has a lot of connections to Vandy and his dad is a Northwestern grad, so Penn State has its competition, but he says Friday's visit/offer has given him a lot more to think about.
