I'll be reaching out to as many prospects as I can this evening to learn more on how their visit to Penn State went today. A lot of the top prospects stuck around after the game. I'm sure a few will even spend the night, although I don't know exactly who at this time.
Because of that, tomorrow will be the day that I hear back from the majority of prospects, but I'll do my best these next few hours to try and learn more from as many players as I can.
LB Jordan Anthony - FILM - Bradenton, Fla. - IMG Academy
"I had a great visit at Penn State. I loved the atmosphere at the game and it was great seeing the coaching staff again. I talked to Coach Franklin for a bit. He was pitching that Penn State is the whole package. They have the history, the academics and good football. I also talked to Coach Pry about my chances to play early if I were to commit."
- The more he visits, the better I feel about Penn State's chances here. He flew up from Bradenton today just to come to the Blue-White Game. That speaks volumes to me.
OL Mike Miranda - FILM - Stow, Ohio - Stow-Munroe Falls
"I really enjoyed finally witnessing the Penn State fan base and getting to know some of the commits and other recruits. The atmosphere there was great and I really enjoyed the whole experience."
- I'm going to reach out to some contacts this week to learn more about the whole offensive line situation. I talked to someone today that said Miranda is still in play following Thorpe and Martin, but I still plan to reach out to others.
OL Thayer Munford - FILM - Cincinnati, Ohio - La Salle
"My favorite things about Penn State is the beautiful campus and how much support they have. Unfortunately, I got there late, so I didn't get to speak with the coaches much. I hope to speak with them more."
- After picking up two offensive lineman today, plus the fact that the staff sits in a good position with a few other OL prospects, it's unlikely that Munford picks up an offer in the near future. But you never know what may happen down the road, so keep him in the back of your mind. I like Munford a lot. I've gotten to know him well over the past couple of months. His character and maturity fits at PSU.
WR Evidence Njoku- FILM - Cedar Grover, N.J. - Cedar Grove
"I had a great time again today. I saw more of the campus. The size of the campus is pretty cool. It's a big school and a big campus, but everything is together. Also, the amount of fans that showed up today was great. Their fans are amazing."
"I was able to talk to the coaches. They were telling me that their offensive is coming together real well. It's really moving along nicely and they think I can be a big part of it. They actually highlighted my wingspan. They said I have a freak wingspan which could be money in the end zone. They measured my wingspan today at 89 inches."
- Still feel like PSU is near the top of his list. There's more competition now, so lets see where else he visits.
Ath. Derrek Pitts - FILM - Charleston, W.V. - South Charleston
"The visit was great. The crowd was great, too. I signed a couple autographs, which was pretty cool. That was exciting. The coaches just talked to me about some future plans if I would commit there. They were excited and so was I."
- Pitts is another prospect that PSU is becoming a real player with. He continues to say that he's in no rush to make a move, but he's taken a lot of visits already and is planning more. I think a move this summer is realistic, but it's tough to say. Pitts never really opens up when I ask about timetables and top schools. He continues to say that everyone is equal, but I think fans should feel good about where the staff currently stands.
LB Avery Roberts- FILM - Wilmington, Del. - Concord
"I like the atmosphere there. Lots of people came out to support the team. Getting a chance to meet with Coach Pry and Coach Franklin was important to me."
- Unfortunately, Roberts informed me that he won't be speaking with any reporters at length between now and his commitment. I confirmed with him that he's just going to tweet his decision on Thursday, April 21. He doesn't have a set time or anything like that. He's not doing anything at his school. The more I talk with people, the more I think he'll be headed to Nebraska. In all honesty, I don't have a great feel for the situation. Avery has always been great at doing interviews and opening up about visits and such, but he's been much more guarded over the past month or two. To say this is around 50/50 is probably fair. More and more colleagues of mine believe it'll be Nebraska.
OL Matt Sichterman - FILM - Kings Mills, Ohio - Kings
"I was there Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Sean and I really had an unbelievable visit. I love Coach Franklin and the energy his coaching staff is bringing with the new up-tempo offense. I also love the combo of great academics and great football. The facilities were fantastic and the fans were crazy. They also have the most impressive tailgates I've ever seen."
"I talked to the coaches about where I stand in terms of an offering coming. We are jut going to keep building our relationship. Overall, it was an amazing visit. They would be a top school for me."
- Like I mentioned with Miranda, I plan to ask around about the situation along the offensive line this week. Sichertman was hoping for an offer this weekend, so he's someone to pay attention to. If PSU offers, he gave me the impression that they'd probably become the favorite, especially considering Sean is committed. I originally was thinking three offensive lineman this year, but I'm starting to think four is more realistic, so we'll be keeping an eye on Sichertman.
OL Andrew Stueber - FILM - Darien, Conn. - Darien
"I had an awesome time at the Blue-White Game. I finally got a sense for the atmosphere around Penn State in a game like situation. I liked the fans and the enthusiasm surrounding Penn State football. I also like the attitude surrounding the team. That is something the coaches talked to me about and was one of my favorite things. How the Class of 2016 and 2017 will be the classes to put Penn State back on the map.
"Also with the 2 O-Line commits today, they told me how they are still very interested in me. They also said that they didn't put any pressure on me to commit because they know that I have to make an educated decision and that I'm fully committed to the choice I make. Mostly my dad and I talked to them about how Penn State is a place to play at a very high level of football with great academics as well. I really enjoyed my visit to Penn State again and look forward to staying in touch with the coaches."
- I think that Stueber is one to watch closely in the coming weeks. With Thorpe and Martin on board, I wouldn't be surprised if that triggers other players to make a move sooner than later.
Because of that, tomorrow will be the day that I hear back from the majority of prospects, but I'll do my best these next few hours to try and learn more from as many players as I can.
