I was able to catch up with Philadelphia DL Karamo Dioubate earlier today. I was also to catch up with a contact to talk about his situation.

During my conversation with Karamo, one of the first things that he stressed is that he's still 100 percent committed to Penn State, but I also got the vibe that he was more impressed with Auburn than it may have originally appeared. For the most part, he's a quiet guy, so he never really gushes about schools like some prospects, but I know he was very impressed with Auburn's facilities. That really caught his eye.

He also informed me that he met with Penn State at his home during both the first and second week of December. Josh Gattis came the first week and Sean Spencer came the second week. Both visits went well. He stressed that his family enjoyed catching up with both coaches and I know he's always had a great connection with the staff. His relationship with guys like Gattis and Spencer is one of the main reasons he committed.

I know that Auburn also came to his school last week and I also believe other schools are making a push, but I'm still trying to learn more about that. Karamo didn't want to open up about that too much, which kind of stood out to me. After talking with a contact, I actually got the impression that official visits to other schools in January is something he's seriously considering, but again, I'll stress that I need to learn more on that before everyone begins to panic. One thing I do know is that he doesn't have an official visit set to Penn State on Jan. 22. You know the staff was pushing for him to set that visit when they met these past two weeks, so that also stood out to me.

I'll do my best to monitor this in the coming weeks. Since it's the dead period, I don't expect much news, but I'll definitely be digging to learn more about what other programs could be in the mix. I think Penn State should still be considered the favorite to sign Dioubate, but they're going to have to stay on him hard once the contact period opens up. This is going to be something we'll have to monitor closely. It'll also likely drag out until the end of the cycle, so we'll be talking about Dioubate a lot between now and signing day.
