I wasn't able to catch up with contacts until late Friday night, so I apologize for just now getting some of these names to you all. I was able to confirm that Penn State hosted slightly more than two dozen prospects on Friday for spring practice. Since Easter is this Sunday, the team won't practice until Monday. That's why Friday was the key day this week.

I already informed you all about the most important prospects. Five-star DB Lamont Wade, four-star OL CJ Thorpe and future Penn State LB Dylan Rivers were the most recognizable prospects that made the trip. I will reach out to Thorpe and Wade in the coming days. I'm not going to bug and bug. They both have been very good to me and they get a lot of calls. I'll get an update when it's best for those two. Hopefully I can speak with one of them by Sunday night.

However, it should be noted that there were a handful of others to keep in mind moving forward. One of those prospects is Ath. CJ Holmes, who plays at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. A three-star prospect, Holmes took his first visit to Penn State on Friday. He holds offers from Boston College, UConn, Miss. State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple and Tennessee. I'm hoping to speak with him tomorrow to learn more, but I know that Penn State is recruiting him to play cornerback. He's also been able to visit UConn, Rutgers and Syracuse in the past.

Another top 2017 prospect that visited is four-star CB Donovan Johnson from Cass Tech in Detroit. Johnson just recently landed an offer from the staff about three or four weeks ago. I believe today was his first visit to Penn State, but I have to double-check with him then. I'll reach out to him later this weekend. Hopefully I can post more early next week.

Johnson is a member of the Rivals250, coming in at No. 179 overall. He's visited most of the top Big Ten schools already and holds offers from Cincinnati, Nebraska, Tennessee, Va. Tech and West Virginia, among others.

Class of 2018 DB Kalon Gervin also made the trip with Johnson down from Detroit. In addition to Penn State, he holds early offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Pitt, Tennessee, among others. He currently projects as a four-star prospect.

I also confirmed that Penn State hosted multiple prospects from the Class of 2016. OL Will Fries, OL Michal Menet and DT Brenon Thrift were all on campus to watch practice.

Below are a handful of other prospects that visited today. I've added all of these names to the spring visitor thread.

LB Brailyn Franklin - FILM - Haymarket, Va. - Battlefield - 2017
CB Edwin Lopez - FILM - Camden, N.J. - Wilson - 2017
OL Jordan Reid - FILM - Detroit, Mich. - Cass Tech - 2017
LB Paul Theobald - FILM - West Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall Prep - 2017

LB DeAndre Square - FILM - Detroit, Mich. - Cass Tech - 2018
