Three-star kicker Alex Barbir is reporting an offer from Penn State today. Barbir committed to Rutgers in July and has been committed since.
But he's had his eye on Penn State recently after coaches initiated contact in December. I've been in contact with Barbir for about the past month, and he didn't want much publicized at the time, but this is an offer he's been waiting on. In fact, he's been waiting a little longer than he had originally hoped. He told me last week that if Penn State didn't make a move before this weekend, then he'd cross PSU off the list and stick to his original commitment. He was originally expected to make an official visit to RU this weekend. I'll check in with him to see if those plans are still on, or how this affects everything. But he definitely has been wanting this offer. I hope to get more for you soon.

Just a quick followup: Barbir is currently discussing with his parents about changing commitments. He's considering making moves, possibly as soon as tonight, but his parents want him to take his time, so this could also drag out a couple more weeks. The family is fond of the recruiter at Rutgers and wants Barbir to follow through on his OV there this weekend. That would set up a visit to PSU the next weekend (Jan. 29-30), and then make a decision. But like I wrote earlier, this is an offer he's been waiting on, so something to monitor.
