A native of Perry, Ohio, Rivals250 tight end Luke Farrell made his first visit to Penn State Wednesday.
Prior to the visit Farrell had already built a strong relationship with assistant coaches Terry Smith and John Donovan and recently named Penn State among his final group of four schools. Admittedly, however, he was unfamiliar with the campus.
Afterward, that's no longer the case.
"It went well," Farrell said. "I mean, I didn't know a lot about the school. I had never been to Penn State before that, so I learned a lot. It really surprised me. I didn't see it as much of an academic powerhouse as it really is (before) what I learned today and from talking to the academic people, too. Then I met Coach Franklin for the first time, talked to him for the first time. He seems like a great guy, good coach. Good visit overall."
