Well, in the last couple days, we had 3 kids we were pursuing, at positions of need no less, commit to Noter Dame. Frustrating, yes, but in the previous two years, we had a lot of kids commit to us early then switch later on in the process...so the question is, would you rather have the kid and lose him near signing day or would you rather know you don’t have him now and be able to recruit others at the position or potentially flip that kid later on? Obviously, getting him and keeping him is the best scenario but we see this all the time anymore, a kid holds his place while he lets things play out. I’m not suggesting any of the kids who have committed elsewhere are going to flip but of the two alternatives, I prefer to know where I stand than not know or wind up scrambling at the last minute.

I’d also note, both Adams and the DT had made statements that indicated to me that ND was their dream school (not those exact words) and let’s face it, ND has a HS pipeline with Catholic parochial schools, that’s reality. Fortunately, not every kid has that kind of background and we’ll get our share of quality recruits. I also think winning on the field, as has been talked about significantly the last couple months, will change things. We’ll be fine, don’t get all uptight this early in the process.

Just my two cents.
