Since 2012 we have been on a roller coaster ride that no fan of any team would wish to endure. I'm just sitting here tonight watching my NY Mets inch closer to a playoff berth and I just had this feeling of recollection of what it was like when I became a fan of all my teams. Penn State Football is my all time favorite team in any sport.
My earliest recollection is around 5 years old. My grandpa was a Penn State grad and I was his first grandchild. Naturally I was raised a Penn State Fan. As young as I can remember I would go to grandpa's house to watch Penn State games on Saturdays. Back then I didn't have access to BWI and get the insider info on recruits or practice notes, etc. It was the expectation that every Saturday Penn State was taking the field and we were going to win. The suspense of the upcoming season and what it produced was something I always looked forward to.
Like the rest of you I subscribed to BWI and now am "in the know" on the latest with the team. While I love the insider info and reading what the fans have to say I have to admit that sometimes I just wish that there was the week I wake up and there is the unknown of what is going to run out of the tunnel on Saturday.
Anyway, like a marriage, through thick and thin, good and bad I am all in on Penn State Football. While I get pissed like the rest when we lose or struggle as I get older I have to remember these are young men and they don't want to lose as much as I hate losing.
One of these weeks I am going to shut off BWI and just go into Saturday and see what comes out of the tunnel. Granted, it might be the Army game, but I just have this overwhelming feeling to remember the old days.
