So, after 2017, when this D2 level coach fails, I don't want to hear how we need to give him more time.

No DeChellis level excuses for this hire. I think it is a catastrophic failure, but hope to hell I am wrong, but either way, Donovan had two years, Moorhead should not get 4. Fair is fair.

This offense has Chris Godwin, Saquon Barkley, a number of 4 star o line freshmen, and nearly everyone, outside of Hack, returning.

No excuses, and no "Butler esque" apologists, if, and most likely when, Moorhead fails.

UConn lost to Oklahoma by 4 scores. His all time highlight.

Ok, calm down.
Lets see what happens and if in 2 years its still a mess, well it won't be JUST the OC that we will be looking to replace.

Basically, all true. If this guy can't succeed, then the whole thing gets redone.

Somebody make a case for this guy though: I see an 8-4 UConn team that got blown away against Oklahoma, and the DAA Fordham Rams, as his highlight reel.

I just hope he gets the damn plays in on time, that alone would be an upgrade I suppose.

You know in all the years I followed PSU underPaterno I never cared who his assistants were - hell for many years I didn't care a ton about recruiting - because I always trusted Paterno to field a solid team. I know his assistants didn't change much anyway, but I didn't even take notice when LJ Sr was hired (to replace I think either Williams or Sara?) because it always came back to trusting Paterno. The point being is that if Franklin is a good HC then assistant coaching hires will work themselves out.

yeah, we all know no good coach ever came from Fordham

oh, wait.....one did, didn't he?

maybe we should let him have a dame or three before jumping straight into meltdown mode

I agree. In fact I think we need to give him three years.

I am just saying, I don't want to hear any Uncle Larry Fall "four year rolling averages adjusted for luck and weight" apologist crap for this guy, if and when he fails.

That's my point.

In 2009, UConn came within 2 pts of #4 Cincinnati, and 2 pts of #19 North Carolina. They also beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame. Moorhead was the OC. & QB coach. He has coached some big games and wasn't blown out.

Oklahoma crushed UConn...guess what, that happens no matter who the coach is. Nothing like giving up on the guy before he even starts.

Fair enough but on the flip side, if we score in the 30's and lose a game, don't blame the OC for one play call made late in the game. Or if our defense craps the bed in a game and we lose, don't blame the OC. Or if we're moving the ball well and have a ton of turnovers and lose, don't blame the OC. I can see a self fulfilling prophecy coming from you...you're convinced he's going to be terrible so every time we lose a game, you will find a way to blame him.

Have you watched tape of Fordhams offense? I haven't yet, but I fail to see how you're so negative on this. He's not a retread.

Um....maybe Oklahoma had better athletes than CT. Maybe CT defense wasn't that good. Maybe Oklahoma had a good offense. Why is that loss all on the OC?

Any guesses how many 4 star recruits that UConn offense had?

I know their QB, Zach Frazer, was a very highly-regarded four star QB when he committed to Notre Dame, and transferred to UConn when Charlie Weis signed Jimmy Clausen. Jordan Todman was UConn's best player that year, but I think he was a three star guy. I don't remember their receivers being too noteworthy, and I can't recall who their linemen were. So the answer is probably one.

Yes on Frazer and they had a true frosh WR for a grand total of two.

BMW: What do you think about John Donovan that is DIFFERENT than Moorhead?

Patriot league thinking, same school, same results, same upbringing.

We needed someone to beat Michigan and Ohio State, and we got someone to beat Colgate.

If we score 30 points against Michigan in Ann Arbor and lose 45-30, then we have a deal. Hell if we score 23 points in Ann Arbor we have a deal.

We aren't going anywhere with this guy: He doesn't have what it takes and notice how the only people on board with this hire, are the people who only exist to hate on my threads. I have not heard one single logical poster with knowledge who supports this hire, not one.

You're upset because of how his offense performed in a bowl game 5 years ago. Would you have been equally as upset if we hired say, Brian Kelly or ND's OC, because they got their ass handed to them in the 2013 championship game?

I'm not blown away by this hire. But there is certainly plenty of upside. I'd suggest having a beer and calming the **** down.

I have no idea why Franklin didn't consult you during the OC search. You appear to be a fountain of knowledge.

He really thinks his opinion based on pretty much nothing is valid or will get him some trophy if his blind guess is right in a few years. If it isn't right, he'll come back with the token idiot line online...glad I was wrong. His roids have corroded his brain. He has no idea what Moorehead can or can't do, but needs attention. He pulled the same crap all year.

Well, just that they are different people and have different offenses. Plus they didn't go to the same school. Donovan went to Hopkins. Until I watch the tape I think it is a fine hire based on what I read. I reserve the right to flip out if the tape shows me something different, although from what I've read I am not worried that will happen. I actually think I'll be quite pleased.
