My younger son will be moving to Sneads Ferry while stationed at Lejeune for 2 years, and is considering getting back into the art. There is a local club “Renegades”, anyone have any info or input I can pass on to him? TIA

If He's looking to coach kids, and get a roll in here and there, thats a good way to go.

If he wants to actually wrestle, have him check w/ MCSS orcontact Jason Loukides. He's the All Marine Coach, he can put him in contact with guys training on base. Each year the coach will hold a tournament or tryouts on base and select members for the All Marine team. I spend my 1st 3 years in the Corps on the team and basically spent 70% of the year at the OTC. One of the best experiences. Ive ever had. I was a 2 state placer in PA 6th and 4th. I was by no means a high end college recruit. I had D2 offers for not much money. I learned a ton and damn near made the Greco national team as an alternate. More importantl . I ended up taking a base coaching gig that led to a coaching career after the Marine Corps, which led to Silver level USAW coaching and I got to travel to over seas tournaments w/ Cadets and Juniors. I dtrongly advise any Marine with s wrestling background to give it a go. I still have some contacts around the team, if he's serious let me know and I can probably get him a look.

He was more into football in HS, but was a good PA wrestler as well. His knowledge helped him greatly in the jui-jitsu type ground fighting in his Infantry Officer School. I havent talked face to face about it with him, so not sure how serious he wants to get,but willdefinately pass this on!!

Doing my silver this spring... How sick was your overseas experience? I'm hoping to get it all done by fall and apply into doing a fellowship next year.

It was pretty awesome, I did Cadets in Azerbaijan and Juniors in Bulgaria. Like I said, one of the best experiences in my life. Also pretty awesome that I got to see Zain win gold, I grew up in Benton. I really want to go to Iran if the host sometime soon. I have heard its amazing there.
