Remember when Franz Klammer called him a "nosepicker?" LOL. He was a pretty brash guy, but he went out and backed it up by winning the Downhill Gold in Sarajevo.
Sad to hear the news of his death. He could not have been very old. RIP.

He had an awful accident that left him with a severe brain injury during a comeback attempt way past his prime. His early passing is sad but not a surprise as he fell on very hard times.

What an epic single day he had. Talked a big game and backed it up.
I think It was E60 that had a story on him one time. It was interesting to watch. Very sad.
"The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" all in one man's story.
What a sad set of circumstances for him after he won, including the loss of his son st 13 months.

He was a real life hell-man from the jump. Troubled kid turned into troubled adult. First American downhiller to challenge the Europeans with his win or die attitude. Amazingly tragic to watch through the years because it was obvious that there would be no happy ending.
