RIP David L Fortin Sr.

Sad to report that former Montoursville head wrestling coach, David L Fortin Sr., has passed away at age 77. Dave was also an assistant coach at DIII, Lycoming College and did a short stint as South Williamsport's head coach. Dave was a good man and a very accomplished coach having 4 individual state champions during his career.

I remember/recognize him. Lived up the street from the school for 2 years as a child. Rest in Peace.

I was a member of Dave's first team at Montoursville. We weren't very good as our won--loss record reflects, but we still managed to have a good time and make lasting friendships. When various members of the team were struggling to make weight for a match, Dave would often inquire, in a friendly way, of course, how many Cellini subs we had consumed in the previous week. Most often, the answer was---too many. Dave was a good man and a knowledgable, well respected coach. Condolences to his family. RIP

This seems to be a theme with guys who wrestled for Bud Whitehill. MrsPA will tell you that Bud continues to influence our family, through the influence that he had on her Dad. Fortin and her Dad were teammates and fraternity brothers at Lyco.
