A friend to Joe throughout his career, here's an email exchange...
with him a few months ago. He had been on that joke of a morning show, WIP, and defended Joe to the losers on the show Here is my exchange:
thanks for your kind words
.they asked about "an independent investigator" to examine the Ray Rice scandal and the NFL's actions
.I said that based on the Freeh report I did not have much confidence in those investigations
I added that I thought the Freeh report was influenced by some trustees who had an agenda that included firing Joe Paterno
.There are days when I wish I could turn back the clock and today was one of those
at 86 I may be too old and too weary to fight the good fight for truth and justice, but I will get involved when I can.
I'm sorry you feel the way you do about WIP. Indeed, they are entertainers, but Angelo Cataldi was nominated for a Pulitzer Price while employed at the Inquirer, and Al Morganti was an outstanding hockey writer while employed there, so they do have a background as journalists
cheers,
Stan Hochman
Good Morning Mr. Hochman,
I am a PSU alum and heard about your interview on WIP radio today. I mentioned I heard about your interview because I no longer listen the WIP. I was a regular listener for over 20 years, but could no longer stomach the negative (slanderous) attack launched by the "entertainers" on the station against Joe Paterno in November 2011. I use the term entertainers because I do not view them as journalists. Real journalists, like yourself, used to take the time to "do the work" and investigate and ensure the facts and sources were correct before reporting on a story. I understand you related a reference to independent investigators to the disgraceful Freeh report. Thank you for having the fortitude and courage to speak your mind and stand by your beliefs in what I'm sure is a hostile, erroneous, media driven environment. Anyone who knew Joe Paterno, or at least took any time at all to look at all the facts, would realize Joe would never cover for a child predator no matter what was at stake. Thank you again for your comments, they were truly appreciated by those who seek the truth and to right the wrongs that were done to an individual who had done so much good. I'm still waiting for the loudmouths and those most outspoken against what happened to actually do something that supports the victims and those affected by the acts of Jerry Sandusky and those like him.
