RIP Ricky Henderson

65 years old
Whoa that sucks. My uncle coached him as part of the Henderson Murphy armas outfield with the a’s. Larger than life and fastest I’ve ever seen a guy get up to speed. Uncle said most pitcher catcher combos literally had no chance to get him based on stopwatch.

Once sat on the batting circle in Baltimore. Os fans giving him crap as game started (gonna steal first base Rickey?). He walked, stole second and third, and came home on a sac fly to left. Winked at them as he came back to the dugout.

I grew up an A’s fan. Lifelong dream was to see a game at the Coliseum. In June 1998 I was in Tahoe for business. The next night I drove to Oakland to meet up with some buddies at the Giants vs A’s game. I got there so late. When I got there it was the 8th inning. When I walked through the portal, the first thing I saw was Rickey hitting a HR.

RIP Rickey.
