The ironic thing about My Three Sons is that they had three unrelated actors playing brothers and then when the oldest one (Tim Considine) left the series and they had to add another son so it'd still be three sons, they had the family adopt Ernie to play an adopted kid, even though he was a biological brother of the kid already playing Chip.
