They were. I don't think the Goose dying young is that surprising. The man livid a crazy life but man I'm sure he had a ton of fun in those 55 years years. RIP Goose.

Am guessing that steroids had a roll in his death. A local man died at same age and he took steroids for weight lifting for years. Steve Courson of the Steelers comes to mind.

There are numerous NFL players who carried too much weight into retirement and didn't live very long. Howie Long looks great with his weight loss. I talked with Rulan Jones a number years back, the DE for Denver. He looked like a WR with weight loss, but I bet he lives a lot longer.

Am guessing that steroids had a roll in his death. A local man died at same age and he took steroids for weight lifting for years. Steve Courson of the Steelers comes to mind.

I knew Steve and used to talk to him a lot. I Grew up outside of uniontown, pa and used to see him a lot at the local gym. He sure was in darn good shape before his unexpected death. A damn tree falling took his life which was crazy. He coached briefly at uniontown HS during the mid 90’s.

Yeah really sucked because he had a major heart issue that he was able to overcome with diet exercise and treatment and then winds up passing in a freak accident.
