Rumor on Eagles next coach

Brian Baldinger seems like he has an insight to who the next coach will be. He was on the NFL Network last night saying that the next coach "will have ties to the Philly area and he will
understand the demands placed upon the organization from the fan base." Hmmm. I saw Dick Vermeil this morning at the Philly airport terminal.

Heard the same thing...and he's bringing in Izel Jenkins to coach up the secondary!!

He knows the Philly media and sports culture well. He's an Eagle all the way at heart. He's 61 and this would probably be the final opportunity at a head coaching job. I wonder how he would feel about working with Howie? Also, those analyst jobs are pretty damn good.

Top two candidates are Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer. D'Antonio also on the short list.
I'd say Jim Harbaugh only because he cant get John, but they aren't hiring those other 2 guys. I think they go with somebody they know, and from the pros. As I mentioned in my post below, I think they hire the next Andy Reid, and they go with Doug Peterson of the Chiefs.

I would say theres close to zero percent chance that anyone that works for Reid goes back to work for the eagles

Are you good friends with anyone who has fired you?
if you are referring to AR, I think time has cured that , and I think that parting was mutual, and AR know he was going to KC for a new beginning. If you are referring to Doug Peterson, I don't think he holds a real grudge against JL, as that the nature of the business. And If JL wanted to bring him back as HC, I think Doug Peterson would be flatter.

Carolina Panthers and former Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott has ties to the area having attended LaSalle High School.

I think all of those guys are laughing and enjoying a playoff run while the Eagles fall apart. And I think hiring Doug Pederson as a head coach is crazy. We shall see

why do you think hiring Doug Peterson is crazy?? A former player, a current coach with a playoff team (IIRC the title of OC as well). When the Eagles hired Andy Reid, he was a nobody. QB coach for the Packers, not even the OC. I think the Eagles go back to their roots.

I'm going to go with the CBS and Pennlive lead and say you are correct. The Eagles definitely have the money to pay Harbaugh, Meyer and D'Antonio so they definitely are candidates for the job. ;)

Calvary Baptist Academy (2005-2008) (Head Coach)
Philadelphia Eagles (2009-2010) (Offensive quality control coach)
Philadelphia Eagles (2011–2012) (Quarterbacks coach)
Kansas City Chiefs (2013–present) (Offensive Coordinator)

He has 5 years of NFL coaching experience (quality control is an internship), and has never called plays. Good luck

1) quality control is not an internship, they get paid real money, and get fired if they don't do their job, they don't get coffee, they break down film
2) Andy Reid never called plays in the pros either
3) John Harbaugh never called plays in the pros, and still doesn't
4) Chip Kelly had never called plays in the pros

you hire the person. It's going to take a real person to work within the frame work of what JL wants, Doug has proven he is willing to do this. The proved this when AR brought him in to be a QB holding a place until Donovan McNabb was ready. DP knew this going and in, and was happy to have the chance. He'll know this going in, and will be happy to have the chance. All that other stuff, you can hire out. Again see John Harbaugh, for the Ravens, thank God Boscotti looked past a Special teams coach and hired the right man.

Haha alrighty. Best of luck
