They have to almost. They can't tag Jones as that would be a crazy price. RB is pretty cheap. They will work out a deal with Jones and try to get Barkley the next year.

They would have tagged him before Barkley--not saying that would have been smart but they would have
they signed Jones to a four year contract extension.
Goodness, 40 is too much, but truly what else is out there at QB? Jones takes too many hits and is always one head away from knocking him out for a season.
Lamar definitely will be hard to sign now but I don't think Jones is that fragile. Once Geno Smith got 35M Jones was getting at least 40M.

He was injury free pretty much this past season, but the question is who can you get cheaper that is going to be anything approaching Barkley. Probably not a bad bet. We shall see. They pick at 25. You make a good point, he's frequently hurt as are most RBs.
