I believe VA law still makes sodomy illegal...just because something is defined in the law, doesn’t make it right.
Virginia legislatively repealed its statute criminalizing consensual sodomy in 2014 even though it had been unenforceable as unconstitutional for more than a decade following the Supreme Court's ruling in Lawrence v. Texas in 2003.

It's just hard to try to get you to focus in on logic, since you're just ranting on emotion, and don't seem to be able to think logically. I never said, nor implied that all mistakes are the same and everyone should pay equally. Your suggestion that I conveyed that is completely baseless, and asinine.

So, every situation I described was worse than what he did? Why? Explain, in each case, what makes it worse. And explain what the appropriate punishment should be and what justifies the difference. For instance, what's more worthy of punishment in slapping a tit than slapping an ass? Or slapping the back of a head than slapping an ass? Or giving a caress to an ass, rather than a slap? And so on.

I really want to focus in on the one hypothetical after you've completed the above task ... the one where I hypothesized a situation where he slaps her on the back of the head (not knocking her down). How, exactly, is that worse than slapping someone on the ass? In actual law, an ass slap is treated more harshly (as evidenced by the charges in the instant case), so explain to me, and the legislators of the various Statess, why they have it wrong, and why a slap to the back of the head is more egregious, and worthy of a harsher punishment, than an ass slap. And ... go ...

Oh, and before I post this ... you seem to be all about casting judgment on folks like me, because we supposedly want too much to happen to this guy ... please explain just what punishment I want for the assaulting ass slapper. Surely, since you are able to cast judgment on the appropriateness of my recommendation, you know what my recommendation is, right? So, what is it? And how does it differ from your recommendation?
I don’t work for you so I’m not going to do some assignment you give me. And intent obviously matters, but usually slapping someone on the back of the head is done with the intent to hurt them...much like punching someone. Slapping someone on the ass is not usually done with the intent of hurting them unless you’re spanking them and I’m quite certain this guy was not spanking the reporter. I have never playfully slapped my wife on the back of the head...have you? But I have playfully slapped her on the butt....I don’t think you can playfully slap someone on the back of the head because it’s much more violent. Got it?

As far as what you want to happen to this guy, I don’t know because you won’t say, but you spend enough time arguing with anyone that doesn’t think his life should be ruined so it must be pretty bad.

Ok, my mistake...I was a dumb law for hundreds of years until 2014.

You posted what I said the punishment should be then you posted that I never said what it should be....not real bright are you? I said fine the guy $1,000 and be done with it. I don’t care what the maximum fine is because this guy should not get the maximum fine. Anything over $1000 would be treating him too harshly....do you follow or should I repeat it again so you can keep up? Should someone who steals a dollar get the same punishment as someone who robs a bank? They’re both illegal after all.

When you were presented with the potential punishments for simple battery, there was possible jail time and a maximum fine up to $1K. You said that it should be $1K and be done with it. But that's not the charge ... the charge is sexual battery. That carries a max fine of up to $5K and 12 months of jail time for first time offenders.

So, you're saying only $1K is appropriate, given the differing charges? Why? Why not just fine him $1? Why not $5K? Or some other figure? Why no jail time? Give me an example of a crime of sexual battery that would be worth 6 months of jail ... or 12 months.

And how do your suggested punishments differ from what I am recommending? Or anyone else who isn't all about "forgiveness"? If you think the guy committed a crime, why are you talking about forgiveness by the victim, as if it's some alternative to punishment?

Ok, my mistake...I was a dumb law for hundreds of years until 2014.
To be fair, a number of states have not legislatively repealed statutes defining consensual sodomy between adults as a criminal offense. Virginia is not one of them but coincidentally, Georgia is.

If some random perv slapped your daughter on the ass on live tv, would you be ok with it? That's basically the question here. If you say yes, you're a terrible human. Now realize this woman is someone's daughter. Reevaulate your life, because you are the lowest common denominator.

To answer your question ... no, I have never playfully slapped your wife on the back of the head. But that's not important right now.

Have you ever playfully slapped a stranger on the ass? Have you ever slapped anyone on the back of the head?

There's nothing more "violent" about a slap to the head or to the butt, in and of itself ... it's just that the ass typically has more padding, so you can hit someone and "get away with it."

But here, the woman said she really felt it ... it wasn't a light tap. It hurt her. And you're not doing anything "playfully" to a stranger's body when they're not aware of you.

Also, what of the sexual aspect? I noticed that you skipped over those hypotheticals. Why's a light tap to the tit worse than a hard slap to the ass of a stranger? Why is a "caress" (you know ... just joking around and stuff) of a stranger's ass worse than a hard slap ... after all ... no intent to injure, amirite?

Oh, and a "tap" to the back of the head ... aren't Italian moms notorious for this? It doesn't really "hurt" ... I mean, it can, if you do it hard enough ... but it's just an attention-getter. I mean, no real harm, no foul, right? And you can't see how getting a hard slap to the ass from a stranger while you're working might be viewed more harshly by a woman than a light tap to the back of the noggin?

What if he had done that "playful" thing where you push the back of a knee forward, so the person dips (but doesn't fall)? Lots of hypotheticals here.

And you still haven't given what you think are the appropriate punishments for these allegedly more serious hypotheticals.

Changing the name of the crime doesn’t change what he did. If you or anyone thinks that what he did should be more than a fine then there’s no sense arguing about it....I won’t change your mind and you won’t change mine, so I’m done with this conversation. I don’t dispute that what he did was wrong, stupid, and insensitive...I just don’t think it’s quite the life ruining experience some on here are making it out to be. I’m sure people disagree with that and that’s fine, I can’t change their mind.

As I said in another post, if your brother or best friend was the one who did the slapping and you knew he was a good guy, would you be as anxious to condemn him? That little game works both ways. And again, please show me where anyone is okay with it.

It really seems like you're ok with it. You keep moving the goalposts, "ah if you knew the guy, it's fine." Everybody knows somebody. The woman referred it to the police, the police saw the crime on video and moved forward with charges. I don't see you blaming your "boys in blue."

This is the most illogical drivel I have ever read....now I’m really done with this discussion. Slapping someone in the head is absolutely more violent than slapping them on the ass, just like slapping someone on the tit is worse than slapping them on the ass....if you can’t see that, then I can’t help you. This has spiraled into lunacy and I’m out.

Jesus, some people are ridiculous. Why in the world would I blame the boys in blue when I’ve never said what he did was okay...in fact, I’ve said multiple times just the opposite. I am not okay with it and I made that extremely clear in my very first post in this thread. Holy shit, the lengths some people will twist things just to make themselves right is amazing. Okay guy, you win...I’m perfectly okay despite posting the exact opposite numerous times.

Context, it was a stupid move at a sporting event as he kept on moving not at a night out on the town. I highly doubt there was anything sexualized about it. I often think people like you, that think that way are the real ones to worry about.

This thread is done. I'm tired of having to remove inappropriate posts, as well as political posts (which are never allowed, unless they involve PSU, and even then only in limited circumstances).

I'm locking this thread. If any of you elect to continue the discussion in a new thread, and it evolves into the same nonsense, then I'll delete that thread, and this one as well.
