Rutgers Michigan

And just like that the referines enter with a phantom holding call on RU
You gotta stop with the nonsense. Why are you even watching a game you know Michigan will win easily when there's many better games on. It's like you want to bitch.

Another crap call for Michigan with Rutgers driving. No second effort allowed on third and short. Call him down before the play was over.

And yes I’m watching to see Michigan since it’s the first opportunity that I’ve had to watch them live.

This board would be in melt down if that was happening between PSU and Rutgers…or PSU against anyone.

Which is the problem. People overreact. Penn State could be down at the half today and there shouldn't be any concern. Bad teams often hang around early.

Rutgers shutting down the vaunted scUM running game thus far. McCarthy is pretty damn good, though. Very accurate.

Michigan had 223 yds in the first half and they get the ball to start the second half. They're not playing like a 24 pt favorite to this point but they are clearly dominating. The only risk is that when you let a team hang around one or two big plays can result in an upset.

PSU at Illinois last week was different. PSU wasn't moving the ball like Michigan is today. That causes concern going forward, not so much that PSU was likely to lose that game.

Yes, of course, each single game performance signals an identical performance for a signal game in the future.... Incredible!

The concern is overstated for Penn State until we play Michigan and Ohio State and that was going to be a concern anyway.

For some ungodly reason, except for last year Rutgers has played Michigan very closely recently. Okay scratch that now 24 to 7.

Two refs just threw flags against Mich DB for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Then the head ref announces, “There is no flag on the play”. Huh?

And instead of first down, Mich gets a pick 6 on 4th and 2.

Bad mistake by Schiano IMO. Rutgers could have kicked the FG and made it a one score game but they decided to go for it on 4th and 2. They previously turned it over on a 4th and 1.

Of course I wouldn't have expected a pick 6 but it seems to me you have to take the points and make it a one score game. Instead it's pretty much game over.

Far worse than the decision was the play call. If it wasn't there your QB might very well try to force it given the down, and that's what happened.

With that call Rutgers handed the game to Michigan.

They missed a shorter FG earlier in the game.

Illinois > Rutgers lol

Rutgers generally gives Michigan a decent game though.

Rutgers keep having those false starts, they will never stay in the game. They have shot themselves in the foot a number of times. Can't do that when you are trying to make a game of it with a team like UM.

Who said ILL was better than Rutgers?

I said fans were concerned that PSU's offense was unimpressive vs ILL. I said Michigan moved the ball well in the 1st half vs Rutgers.

I did.

Michigan pulled away late similarly. I didn't watch though. What did you think of Rutgers? Would you rate them better than Illinois?

Are they?
Illinois struggled with Toledo who hasn't looked good today against Western Michigan but may win
Illinois is also struggling with FAU--it's early so hopefully they right that ship but Illinois is probably on par with Rutgers this year. Illinois might have a better record because they play in the west so they avoid Ohio State and Michigan but if they played I think it would be a tight game.

IMO, Rutgers is better than Illinois this year. The Illini lost a ton of talent and some of their better coaches too. And Rutgers' QB could develop into something really dangerous.

No argument with the logic and facts. It's just Rutgers. That is all.
