Both Knoxie and I have posted articles by Ruy Teixeira here. He's the rarest of breeds: a Dem-Mediacrat strategist with his head actually screwed on straight who's been willing to speak hard truths to his own Party in the wake of its election fiasco last November.

Now Ruy is flashing an orange caution light to Trump, which the President might be advised to heed...though of course he won't.

Trump was elected in part...maybe the largest part actually...on the strength of the public's unhappiness with economic conditions. But those problems are deeply rooted at this point and not subject to being fixed by the wave of a magic wand on the part of Trump or anyone else.

Meanwhile, there are signs that the impression of Elon being the equivalent of a partner in Trump's presidency is not playing well. Attending cabinet meetings...the chain-saw gimmick...the silly 5-things demand to the federal workforce...all of this is a bad look.

It's why I've been saying in recent days that the time has come to take Elon out of the limelight and let the excellent team that Trump has assembled around him do their jobs of running the government. In short: more Kash, Tulsi, Pete and friends...less Elon.

Oh and it wouldn't hurt if Trump would also quit vocalizing every little screwy idea that pops into his head...you know, turning Gaza into Miami Beach and stuff like that, which the President was blathering about again this week. It's a total loser at a time when Americans just want to get their own house in order.
