And at this point, they are a loser in realignment. San Diego State to remain in MWC.
To date no invite has come from the PAC 12 or Big 12 despite sdsu (arguably) giving notice of their intention to leave. One of the two, probably the incompetent PAC 12, must have given the school unofficial assurances of an invite that has not materialized. With their withdrawal fee doubling on july 1, they are now screwed.

I remember thinking that they are at least a geographically logical SoCal replacement in the PAC 12. Their hoops program has been great and football has its moments. Does SDSU align in the non sports academic mission of the member teams that are left? Is that even a thing anymore?

Sucks for them- all part of the slide to conference irrelevance.

I'm still waiting for some of these schools to use common sense and create a national conference of high quality G5 and lower level P5E.

It’s pretty inevitable that SDSU will join whatever remains of the PAC-12 at some point. They are easily a good fit geographically and honestly aren’t that different athletically that lesser PAC schools like OSU or WSU. The problem is that the PAC schools want to finish up their TV deal first before expanding and that deal seems perpetually delayed.
