Saturday is the last day we’re ranked until……..

At this point I guess a nice Outback Bowl with the parents seems like something to hope for.

PSU goes bowling with a 5-7 record?

Given the QB situation (and the likelihood that Cliff gets really injured if he plays vs OSU) I don't see another win on the schedule.

What odds do you want on under .5 wins? 5-1 work (assume yes, if you don’t see another win)?

Sunday.

Call me crazy. I know it’s a long shot. But honest question. 1 week ago if you had to bet on us beating OSU or losing to Illinois how many would have picked us losing to Illinois was more likely.

After 1st loss we struggle. We usually rebound.

If Clifford plays well we can pull off upset. Osu wont go crazy 7 lineman set. We will see a defensive effort closer to Auburn than last week.

I know it’s a long shot and think it’s not likely. But we have the talent to hang with them.

I admire your optimism, even if you may be a bit crazy 😜! With a 100% healthy Sean Clifford and Mustipher still in the lineup, I’d have some confidence we could hang into the 2nd half. But, I’m just not seeing it now. I’m afraid this game will be over by halftime.

No question. We will fall out of the top 25 and return to the top 25 in the 2022 preseason polls, if we get our QB commits.

Christ you can't be serious. That WOULD turn psu into Nebraska.
Charismatic, passionate guy... great recruiter... has a 2nd string QB waiting that looks at least as promising as their NFL-bound 1st stringer... and is better at x's and o's - esp. offense! - than Franklin. Regarded as a rising star by national media.

They can't run the ball. New coach MUST be offensive line centric.

Come on.

I know people are down, and should be. But Maryland and Rutgers are not good teams. Particularly now that Maryland has lost Demus for the season.

7-5 is very realistic, I'm afraid. I still think this is an 8-4 team -- we'll pull an upset somewhere along the line. Perhaps not Saturday, but I do think we beat Michigan.

If we go 8-4 and win our bowl game, we finish in the top-25. We need to see some improvement to get there, but it's a reasonable expectation.

Will depend on the coaching situation of course, but I see next year's team starting out on the fringe of the top-25 (assuming Clifford departs). So there's that.

Are Maryland and Rutgers better than Illinois? What string QB are they playing? How did PSU look against Maryland last year? What has changed?

Next year is looking like a losing season already.

Just because we lost to Illinois doesn't mean we'll automatically lose to any team equal to or better than Illinois. Come on.

Maryland is really, really bad right now. They came into the PSU game last year with a chip on their shoulder and played the game of their lives. Almost certainly won't be the case this time around.

I really do think we're going to surprise some people on Saturday night. Still don't think we win, but I think we'll show intensity and heart and make enough plays to at least be respectable. That'll give us something to feel good about going into the Maryland game, where we get things back on track.

Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. We have serious problems and his year has potential to go sideways. But let's not jump off the bridge yet.

Once you have 2 Ls on the season rankings are all noise anyway, at least until the end of the season. You have to be rolling good enough to beat Michigan at White Nite 2, cause they aint een all that amazing. If we oh no we suck again like waterboi then get your potato strength up and ruin their Cinderella guy.

Of course not, but it is a reasonable thing to base it upon. And some Maryland fan is thinking: “ Hey we sucked at home against Iowa, but that does not mean we are going to suck against Penn State.”
