If you Google trackwrestling, click on search events. Enter '2016 NCAA' and it should take you to the 2016 events. Look for brackets and that should get you your scores.

I just realized how close the finals were contested this year. Only 3 matches decided by 3 or more points, and two were from our guys.

Dieringers' 6-2 win is symptomatic of the Oklahoma State style: Just get your hand raised, even if you are clearly better. As good as Dieringer was, he failed to score bonus points in his final three matches of the tournament.

Actually Dieringer did Major Lewis in the Semis 14-4. He did seem a little off in the quarters against Weatherman ISU, likely due to the morning weigh in. But Zeke Jordan is no slouch by any means, I doubt anybody has ever beaten him by bonus points, and I certainly didn't expect Dieringer to do so, despite being clearly better.

He was awarded the Hodge trophy, was he not? Dieringer himself expected to win by major, and said so in his interviews after both matches.

I'm sure Taylor expected to win his 2nd title by major against Caldwell as well, but he won 6-0. Doesn't mean he wasn't still a great wrestler and very deserving of hodge. Same with Stieber last year, he probably expected to beat port by Major instead of giving up the last TD and getting ridden out to win 11-5, but he was still a dominant wrestler and deserving of the hodge. But meh, you have your opinions I suppose.

Taylor did not expect to win by major against Caldwell: The two had met two months earlier at Rec Hall and Taylor won, 5-3. The match was clearly expected to be a win for Taylor, but no major decision was expected.

Speaking of NCAA scoring, can anyone point me to where I can find the detailed scoring breakdown per team? Specifically, the summary of how many points each wrestler scored for their school.

Except I'm not posting opinions, I'm posting facts: Dieringer failed to get major in two of his final three matches.

Actually the score was 5-2 in the dual but Taylor majored him 9-1 at the Scuffle that year. I bet if you asked DT he definitely expected to win by major or more.

Aside from being incorrrect (as posted above, MD win in the semis), it's also cherry-picking -- Dieringer pinned his first 2 opponents at nationals. So he got bonus points in 3 of 5 matches in the nation's biggest ass-kicking contest.

He won the 2014 and 2015 finals by 13-4 and 14-7 scores, and his lowest scoring matches in the 3 years were 6-2 vs. Ike Jordan and 6-1 vs. Bo Jordan. So maybe this year's opponent was more of a factor than "Oklahoma State style."

BTW, Dieringer was also #2 behind Zain in the NCAA Most Dominant Award.

We as fans should be better than this.

Anyone with time on your hands willing to do the data dump and see where the total points scored in the finals ranked in the last 5,10, 15 or 20 years?

I know falls are in there but I'm just curious to see if rule changes have moved scoring up at all.....

If not maybe tonight I can find some time to check this out

Not the numbers you're looking for ... but Wade Schalles seems pretty convinced.

Then you would be wrong, because DT WAS asked if he "expected" to win by more, and he replied that the most important thing that night was to secure the win and not make any foolish mistakes, the major was irrelevant that night.

So no, he did NOT expect to win my major.

But keep trying, haha. You don't have Scott Cole over here, so you won't be getting any ban hammers for your efforts.

"Oklahoma State wrestlers know how to get their hands raised, and value the close wins, as a more important factor than bonus points..."

--Tim Johnson(Iowa)--during the finals in NYC during HEIL'S match, not even Dieringers' match.

Not just "us".

Actually a misquote, he was speaking about Heil only, not Oklahoma State wrestlers. Go to 6:17 of the match for the direct quote.

Semantics. The point is the point. Dieringer failed to bonus, and admitted so after both his bouts that ended that way.

WTH did you expect him to say? He's David Freaking Taylor, of course he expected to win by more, but he's too classy to say so.

You wouldn't have gotten much pushback by citing Heil originally. You didn't. You cited Dieringer. And now you're trying to move the goalposts over to where you already kicked the ball.

Someone needs to flush you down the toilet. I will not put you where you should have been when you started bashing Shakur, on ignore.

I love Ignore. It means I don't see any of the 21 or Spyker pot stirring crap. I assume that's who you're talking about. You should try it!! Makes for a more enjoyable and logical forum.

Again, you cannot beg for a ban hammer on this board, and all of your baiting goes right where IT belongs, down the toilet.
