I'm in Cincinnati covering games tonight, the first of which was Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier and Penn State four-star 2017 QB commit Sean Clifford taking on Covington (Ky.) Catholic. Clifford got the scoring started with a 10-yard touchdown run on the first drive. By 7:00 left in the 2nd quarter it was a 47-0 blow out. Clifford tossed touchdown passes of 22 and 7 yards, both very good throws. As we expect from Sean, he was very accurate with his passes, but he also threw with plenty of velocity and every pass was on a line. He looked a little over-amped early on, made a couple minor mistakes with the football, got happy feet. Settled down as the game went on, though, and really looked solid.
Good first game of the season for Clifford, who told me afterward "Penn State is the best school in the country." I have a video interview, but the band decided to walk behind us right in the middle so the audio may not work out. I'll check it out when I get back to my hotel and get the quotes out somehow.
