Season Ticket Question

Looking for help here. My wife and I were season ticket holders for quite a few years, which we purchased each year from a person whom had 4 tickets and only wanted two. When I checked on the status of our tickets in October, he said he never sent the request in. We used those tickets for "date" days. Early lunch, great wrestling, the Creamery afterwards. We were very disappointed.

I'm sure there is a VERY long waiting list for season tickets. With that in mind, are there websites out there that people post tickets for sale for matches they can't make it to? Even last minute would be better than nothing.

Thanks for any advice.

Not a season ticket holder but tickets to home duals are posted on this board often enough and that if you're paying attention you should be able to grab a pair. I think for the first time this year the mods created a sticky thread just for tickets, which you can see for yourself from the main page.

(FWIW, @Tom McAndrew, the sticky thread for tickets was a solid idea because it kept most ticket posts out of threads where they didn't belong; I vote to make that a permanent or at least seasonally permanent thing.)

If all else fails, except for the very elite teams, I've never had any trouble getting what tickets I needed out front for at or below face value. This year, I had the pleasure of season tickets in the same situation as you though, so I didn't even sweat it.

Like others have said, keep an eye here for tickets. Some sell for face and some are just given away to the first person to respond. On an average year I will give my four tickets away 2-3 times for matches I can't attend.

I've had good luck on the PSWC boards as well. I think you have to be a member, but you should do that for its own sake!

I appreciate the comments, tikk. The single thread did seem to work very well. There were occasional late requests, or late sales, which were posted as unique threads, but many folks pointed those posters to the pinned thread. It seems quite likely that I'll repeat the pinned single thread next season.

I've been on the wait list for 4 years now. I'm honestly shocked they haven't gone to using NLC to designate tickets, and start charging a seat donation like football.

I'm not sure if they require a minimum donation, but they are using NLC points to determine who gets tickets when they become available. The wait list isn't really a list, those with the most NLC points jump to the top of the list every year.

I would hate to see NLC points dictate who gets season tickets. Not just because I'm on the lower-mid end of the point scale but have a feeling there would be quite a few empty seats for other than a marque match or two. For years I've sat by season ticket holders that have few to no points but we've always been loyal and dedicated to the program through the ups and downs. Yes the current demand is good for business but it would be a stab in the back to alienate your decades long season ticket holders because guys with thousands of NLC points now want tickets. Where were they 10 or 20 years ago?

As I stated above, it's already happening and has been for years.

I realize anyone lucky to get new season tickets are going by NLC points. What I don't want to see is a complete start over in order of point levels.

Any idea of what Cael meant when he said "going to see some changes next year" in regard to ticketing demand?

no idea what that quote means. I just hope it doesn't involve a permanent move to the bjc.

The NLC points won't affect current ticket holders.. they won't strip them away from people who have them.. it only affects those waiting for tickets I believe..

So what sort of donation or commitment is necessary to have enough NLC points to get season tickets? I'm closing in on retirement and would have the first opportunity to get to most dual meets since I was a student at PSU in the 80s.

i don't know what it would take to get a pair, but I tried to add another pair this past year and only singles were available at 1400 NLC points.

I believe you get one NLC point for each $50 contributed. I don't know what the point cut off is for season tickets.

Again, I am pretty sure the points will only come in to play if tickets are not renewed.. I don't think you can take tickets from a current season ticket holder regardless of how many points you have.. there is a LARGE number of old timers with tickets for years and years who aren't even NLC members.. they will not lose their tickets to someone on the list with a bunch of points.. the points just help you rise to the top of the list WHEN tickets do become available.. at least that is how I understand it..

So, for $70,000 you can buy your way into one season ticket.

Not sure about season tickets. But, if it was true that the cut off for NCAA tickets was 1500 points, your estimate is correct for the amount of contribution needed to get those tickets.

Points are earned for each year of being an NLC member. For the past few years points could also be earned by renewing early or renewing online. And for the past five years people who committed to the One Team plan earned double points for their contributions. Click below.

HOW TO EARN NLC POINTS

So 15 extra points can be earned every year if you renew early, pay invoices early and do it online. That's equivalent to donating $750. For a 20 year member that's 300 free points.

You heard it here, first, folks. Do what NittPicker says, and in 100 years, you'll have 1500 points and can get season tickets and nationals tickets. :)

I've been a season ticket holder for over 15 years. The cost of tickets is dwarfed by my gasoline tab for my 400 mile round trip.

In the seats around me, it's been the same people at every match for those years. We're almost like family by now.

I've also had the exact same seats for the entire period. It's been a real pleasure, so I hope that they don't charge the protocol.

Wow, Rings.... if you got 8 you can easily sell 2 to me, right? Share/spread the wealth!

I have no idea if there is any momentum for a permanent move to the BJC but if it does happen hopefully they follow the same approach used when Pegula opened. All season ticket holders from the final season at Greenberg selected their seats first and the remainder were allocated via NLC points. That wouldn't alienate the long time supports of the program. Using the STEP approach would be idiotic since the money involved in wrestling is dwarfed by the football dollars.

I am not 100% sure but think I got my seasons tix between Cal's 1st-2nd year, seeing the writing on the wall. Good move as I am normally the one on the outside looking in.......lol.

Up until Cael was hired I always bought tickets for whatever dual or duals I wanted to see. Was never an issue picking up even the better ones. I too purchased season tickets for Cael's first season thinking this could be something special. Boy am I glad now. Can be difficult to make every match living 2 hours away but with the daughter enrolling at main next year it just gives us more incentive to make every match.

Wow if only singles are available at 1400 points, to get 3 must be a lot of points! Now I know why you welched on your WFL committment-you were busy trying to buy points, so you could get more season tickets! Doesn't matter, still a WELCHER!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I smell total bull sh!t. SHOCKING!!!!

Well, since season tickets aren't even for sale until August or later obviously rings/spyker is lying thru his teeth like he always does.
You mean big donors don't get special treatment, and can't get them on signing day? Dang, SPYKRING, another nail in the proverbial trust coffin-if someone tries to open it, it will take 5 men 3 days to pull the nails out :(

Season ticket renewals get sent out usually during the summer and give those with current tickets the option to renew the ones they have.. Once those renewals take place, any that open up are then offered to the wait listed folks.. so this stuff about getting more here recently is hogwash..
