#8 coming in with the "deer in the headlights" look after Northstar went down.....only to make the catch and snake/dive/crawl for a 12 yard TD. Great to see his mates celebrating with the kid after it was confirmed. A beautiful moment.
#12's really nice inside slant, catch and score with two defenders waiting to pop him at the goal line. He split them to score easily.
#99's run was certainly amazing in itself, BUT did you notice the blocking as he "accelerated" away from the LOS? Cabinda I think got in the way of the only OLman who had a shot at 99, and from there it was clear sailing...by, what? 10 yards. Not bad for a 325#er, who only slowed down as he approached the goal line and coasted in. Seemingly he could have run for another 25 yards if he had to. Remarkable play All thanks to the DLine's great play topped off by #90's hit on the RB to dislodge the ball. One fan suggested putting 99 in the backfield for a jumbo play.
We certainly sputtered in the 2nd half, but Hack is starting to make some explosive plays. And the WR/TE corps are starting to get a little bit of separation. Don't forget Hack had 2-3 wide open receivers down field for easy TDs, but overthrew them. We are still looking for the easy score/TD pass and wide open receivers in the middle of the field, however.
Hopefully the reel doesn't include our two top RBs going down with an injury, minutes apart. But if so, Id take the wraps off our best remaining RBs, even if it requires pulling their shirt. This O needs a solid running threat to free up Hack and to keep him healthy.
