2 Thumbs up. Excellent movie - especially for those of us old enough to remember. I was just about to turn 5 and living in Poland at the time so got almost no news of it, but remember some of the Olympics like Olga Korbut and the aftermath of the attack.

Anyway, underscores what a boss Jim McKay was. Thrust suddenly into a pressure cooker, he comes up with this ad-libbed summation of the tragedy: “When I was a kid my father used to say our greatest hopes and our worst fears are seldom realized. Our worst fears have been realized tonight. They have now said there were eleven hostages; two were killed in their rooms yesterday morning, nine were killed at the airport tonight. They're all gone.”

We go from that to oafs like Chris Berman: “back, back, back” and Stuart Scott: “boo yah”

I traveled to Europe (19 at the time) several days afterward on September 9th. Security at airports was "up the ass", as Alex Sosa would say. In West Germany especially. I remember getting a full pat-down and frisk before boarding a flight in Bonn where all, and I mean all, parts of my body were touched. No fancy search equipment back then.
