Has Seth officially made the move to football? I've been hearing he is for a while now.

Yea, better chance for Snacks to make $$$ by being turned into a strong interior offensive lineman than as a backup Heavyweight. Be tough to blow up to 310-315 where Traut will want him and ever get back to being a 285, I’d say this is it for the Mats.Someone like coach Trautwein can take an athletic 6'4" 305lb wrestler and make him a monster on the O-line.
Perhaps, though a quick scan of the roster shows that some DTs weigh less than 290.Yea, better chance for Snacks to make $$$ by being turned into a strong interior offensive lineman than as a backup Heavyweight. I hear ya Jefe, just will be hard to turn the switch back to wrestling like that. Also must be incredibly hard to stay all in knowing you are the backup behind a kid with 4 years eligibility left. I totally understand the movePerhaps, though a quick scan of the roster shows that some DTs weigh less than 290.
Either way, Cael probably needs to find a backup plan for HWT. (Of note: last week PJ Casale decommitted from Lehigh.)
You're forgetting that there are a lot of schools that would love to have a heavyweight of his caliber. He played football in HS and I'm sure that something convinced him it was worth his time to stay at Penn State.I think either way, he is going to be doing a lot of watching. Good luck to him, maybe he gets coached up and has a great career in football.
This - I think Seth loves Penn State too much. He would be a very hot commodity if he opted to hit the portal. You're forgetting that there are a lot of schools that would love to have a heavyweight of his caliber. I agree. He is a top 12 -16 heavyweight, problem is he is #2 at PSU behind a guy with more eligibility. This - I think Seth loves Penn State too much. He would be a very hot commodity if he opted to hit the portal.
I thought I have read here that if you are playing a money sport and using a scholarship, then the scholarship counts against the money sport. Is that not true here? Does he have to take the field for it to count?Penn State wrestler joins football roster
He will participate in two sports at Penn State.247sports.com
Don't rule out the possibility of the journalist screwing up.I thought I have read here that if you are playing a money sport and using a scholarship, then the scholarship counts against the money sport. Is that not true here? Does he have to take the field for it to count?
maybe only full or greater than some percentage scholarships activate the rule.Don't rule out the possibility of the journalist screwing up.
Ummm he wasn't a walk onIf you are a scholarship athlete in any sport and play football…you count against the football scholarship limit. To me - this would mean he is a walk on/not receiving athletic financial aid at PSU (At least any more).
Well, in this age of the Portal Merry Go Round, the odds of all 85 scholarship players staying after fall camp has to be fairly low.
If Franklin & Staff think Nevills can eventually contribute even on the 3-deep, I’d have to think eventually the staff could find a spot within the 85 for him.

I bet this part of Cael’s Grand Partnership with Franklin to override the 9.9 limit.
Someone should give a heads-up to Vodka and the Inner Circle (Jerk) so they can notify the NCAA.
In wrestling, with 9.9 scholarships and 30+ wrestlers, almost nobody gets a full ride. Cael is shaving that scholarship pool in percentages.i know you said that in jest, but i don't think nevills would actually recieve the full scholarship for football, it would only be counted as a full against the football cap. i'm assuming if they did give him a full for football, that it would also be counted as a full against the wrestling cap.
but it's possible i'm wrong.

Unless it has changed from when I was coaching, the scholarship goes against whichever team gives it to him. They can even have 2 sports give him a partial.i know you said that in jest, but i don't think nevills would actually recieve the full scholarship for football, it would only be counted as a full against the football cap. i'm assuming if they did give him a full for football, that it would also be counted as a full against the wrestling cap.

If that were true, SEC tennis players would average 6-3, 250.Unless it has changed from when I was coaching, the scholarship goes against whichever team gives it to him. They can even have 2 sports give him a partial.
He is not on any scholarship. So it won’t count towards anything if he steps on the field. He’s a walk onIf he steps on the field it will count towards football scholly limit. Will also still count towards wrestling as much as it does now.
Football only has full scholarships…
I'm trying to remember what happened when Spencer Myers got a full ride to play football his SR year at Maryland.i understand that. but if football gives him a full scholarship, he would count as a full scholarship against the wrestling team.
