SF Bay Bridge

It is not a mystery why the SF Bay Bridge costs so much.

1. The original cost projection of $250 million was made in 1995.
2. The SF Metro area is extremely susceptible to earthquakes.
3. The Tappen Zee bridge final cost is about $4 billion
4. The SF Bay Bride is longer (20,480 feet) than the Tappen Zee (16,368 feet). About 4/5 of a mile.
5. Both bridges will have tolls to pay off the bonds and operating/maintenance costs.
6. Additional cost was added with consideration to 9/11. For both bridges.
