Had a 6.5 horse power, 265 blowing mph Craftsman that i cannot find filters or hoses for.
I have a Keystoker coal stove in my basement. Which rocks!!
The hose cracked.
Love Craftsman and the thing would suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.
My bro in law bought me this smaller Ridgid which sucks for coal ash and frankly sucks totally.
Any suggestions out there.
need something like the craftsman hp wise.
or who sells craftsman these days.
Sears doesnt.
thx

This isn't the right place for this question. Google's your friend here.

But craftsman as a brand is sold by Sears still, kinda, with a completely different set of Craftsman sold by Lowes (actually made by Stanley).

I'd not count on Sears being around too much longer, and for the Lowes stuff, might just as well buy the Stanley product & save some $.

Lowes now carries some Craftsman products, but I only see 1 small portable vac on their site.

I have a smaller Shop Vac that I have used for water/carpet clean up and am very pleased with it.

Lowes does show a 6.5 hp Shop Vac on their site.

And in about 22 seconds I found on the Sears web site a number of Craftsman shop vacs....

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-xsp...SellerId=Sears&prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3

Edit: And as 91Joe said, parts for Craftsman products are available all over the internet. Get your model number off of your Craftsman vac - better yet if you have the original manual which may list all the parts for the unit, identify the specific part numbers that you need. If not, you will very likely find the manual for your unit on the web via a search for your unit's model number. Search for the part number for any parts you need on ebay. I easily find parts for my 25 year old Craftsman tractor at very reasonable prices from multiple small store sellers ....

Just get the model number for your shop vac and type it in along with hose, filter, etc. Amazon, Ebay, Google, Walmart - everything is out there if you have a model number. Heck, you could look on sears.com in the parts dept, find the repair parts list for your shop vac, then find the part number. Sears may no longer carry it, but the online stores will if you type in the part number.

Craftsman sold by Sears, likewise Rigid (HD) were both made by Emerson, at least they were within the past few years or so... i assume you realize that, like Kenmore - it’s no secret there is no “Craftsman” factories anywhere ... all contracted out

Yes. I thought Sears though still stood by their "lifetime" guarantees. As in, you could still turn in a stripped socket & get a new one.

Check a couple of your local hardware stores, like Ace. Unless you have some odd size hose and filter, you should be able to find them. I have a small Craftsman and a large rigid. Same filter for both. You should be able to match the hose end diameter and buy another one.

You can also buy a bag filter for over your regular filter. Makes cleaning your filter much easier since you can wash the bag.

If u decide to go new. Buy an actual Shop-Vac from Williamsport, PA.

SVs2 motor. Use it for the stoker since I'm a coal cracker

Lowes actually stocks Craftsman now. Not sure if they are assuming the past broken tool policy though.

My understanding is that the Sears policy of lifetime replacement applied only to hand-tools

Willing to bet that Craftsman power tools (never that great in the first place) and vacs aren’t being produced to the same specs now that Stanley paid for the trademark and has introduced them to any retailer willing to carry them

The key is to find out who made shop vacs for Sears. Wild guess here, but I would put my money on Shop Vac (brand).

You might get lucky and find the filter through them. Another option is to look for the "old guy" at the hardware store. That is if you have one near you. If so, sometimes those guys can find those diamonds in the rough.

If that does not work, look for an industrial supply place and find the highest CFM at the price point you can afford.

I like Festool, and Fein vacs, but they are expensive, as is dustless Technologies.

Good luck!

I can only dream of having a Festool, Hilti, and Fein shop. Just can’t justify the move up from my Makitas.

Admittedly I kind of went off the deep end a few years ago and "invested in*" some Festool items. The integrated system is what sold me. The nice thing for those who haven't is that some/ many of the things that Mafell and Festool came up with are being integrated by, Makita (Nice tools!), Bosch, Dewalt, and Kreg. A track saw hooked up to a vac is nice way to work around not having the space for a table saw. Can't do all that a table saw can, but some things like braking down sheet goods, is what a track saw excels at.

*Is it an investment if it only depreciates?...

Often best place to find spare parts is Ebay. You search by the product name, model number, specifications. You have to try searching a variety of different ways till you find it, and then you can use the keywords from the found product to search for other suppliers.

Once I locate the part, I do Amazon and Google searches to see suppliers and prices. Sometimes Ebay will have the best deal, sometimes Amazon, and sometimes someone else.

If it's a popular product made in the last 10-15 years, the chance is very high that SOMEONE will make parts/filters for it.
