Penn State trustee Anthony Lubrano on NCAA president Mark Emmert's comments today: "Mark Emmert is a sanctimonious hypocrite. Joe Paterno had more integrity in his little finger than Emmert has in his entire body. The NCAA got what they wanted from Louie Freeh. We shouldn't be surprised that Freeh sighted institutional control issues in his fact-free 'report.'"

Football/JVP/409:

Yep......we see a TTEE or 2 stirred to respond (maybe Ted Brown will post a couple photos of his "Joe Paterno's Desk Diorama"?)

Wasting $100,000,000s a year?
Governance malfeasance?
Ridiculous tuition costs?
Crooks and ConMen running the University?
"Opposing" immaterial boobs like Mark Emmert or Jim Delany? Sure.....The folks who actually DO damage PSU - Ira Lubert? Mark Dambly? Dicky Dandrea? Not so much

Eh.......not so much ("not so much", as in "nothing")

Dambly's still getting over all the excitement from having been on Gameday.

The word is "cited." That's kind of embarrassing.

Thank Anthony for saying something that actually supports PSU and JVP. Sounds like Crickets from the rest.

If he got it in writing, let's hope he just didn't cut and paste it, for the love of God. And he ought to have an editor, in either case.

Maybe Anthony can jumpstart the university standing up to the verbal bullies. I'd love to see Anthony go nose to nose with Miss Desmond Howard.

SOP is not to edit the written word.

Did you not see who was right there cheering on the assault on PSU? Probably gave ESPN their talking points.

did the BOT support this statement unanimously?

I was so pissed off with Emmert's comments that I quickly sent off a response to Adam. He did not share the entirety of my written remarks. They are as follows:

You can quote me:

Mark Emmert is a sanctimonious hypocrite. Joe Paterno had more integrity in his little finger than Emmert has in his entire body.

The NCAA got what they wanted from Louie Freeh. We shouldn't be surprised that Freeh cited institutional control issues in his fact-free "report." The NCAA sent Julie Roe and others to train Freeh's "investigators" with respect to institutional control violations.

Mark Emmert is a joke. What's worse are the University Presidents and Chancellors who allow this clown to parade around the country articulating a set of values he couldn't possibly understand.

Anthony, why doesn't anybody besides you in our leadership stand up for us? Why are they so passive in the face of so much verbal aggression and mistruths? It would be oh, so easy, to shut some of these guys up forever by have a bit of verbal sparring with them.

We need someone like yourself to have a Meet The Press type of interaction with them.

Meh. Lubrano is re-using his "little finger" analogy. Emmert, among others, doesn't really care what Lubrano thinks.

I like Anthony, but he frequently overestimates his self-importance. This is one of those times.

Nobody has asked this, "Why did ESPN even bother to quote you in their article?"

The article could have (albeit tainted and false) stood on Mein Fuhrer Emmerts comments alone. And, history shows that such a one sided opinion fits nicely into ESPN's agenda.

So, again, why did ESPN include you in their article?

Kudos Anthony, good stuff. You should issue a statement condemning Delany's pathetic and ridiculous antics this past week which demean and devalue the Conference in violation of his contractual employment obligations and are despicable relative to PSU's student-athletes' accomplishments and accolades EARNED OBJECTIVELY ON THE FIELD OF PLAY as opposed to Delany's disgrace subjective opinions which clearly violate his contractual employment obligations and fiduciary obligations to PSU!

A Lubrano's statement on this issue - while not comprehensive - is absolutely spot on

And - yes, absolutely, it is an appropriate issue for a member of the PSU administration (or governance board) to address

Nothing but "kudos" on both counts

Unfortunately (VERY unfortunately) it is VERY hard for anyone to attach any weight to protestations over sanctimonious, hypocritical leadership.........when the message is coming from a member of the governing body that:

Unanimously and knowingly supported one of the largest (if not the largest) sanctimonious hypocrites ever to "grace" the campus........and gave that Scoundrel the Keys to the Kingdom (in case anyone is not sure - the Scoundrel in question is Ira Lubert :) )
Further, when the messenger - and his colleagues - sit back EVERY DAY, and watch one of the biggest crooks in the state STEAL FROM THE PSU TREASURY, and NEVER so much as open their mouths or lift a finger to oppose/stop it...........
Just how much weight can any reasonable person give to such protestations wrt Emmert?

Seriously?

It's a shame......and in large part, it is why we are so much further behind TODAY, than we were five years ago

"The time for honoring themselves is soon coming to an end."

The time for talking is long over; when may we expect some actual results? And not more bowing-down to King Ira. Sorry Anthony but I'm afraid there are many folks like me who have lost patience with this long, drawn-out Greek tragedy.

Anthony, unfortunately its too late IMO. Just reading what's been said nationally of PSU before and after the win Saturday makes that clear.

There's only 2 possibilities IMO which could move the needle in any way. First, a major bombshell in the Freeh notes. Clearly, that's not there or it would have been in front of a judge and released by now.

Second, the governor and Attorney General finding some prosecutorial misconduct in the prior staff and acting on it (like Duke lacrosse). Given Wolf's lack of interest in the issue I don't see that ever happening.

Even Delany feels comfortable openly snubbing Penn St in the media as we've seen the past few days. Yet again, Barron and Sandy melted away from any defense of the kids on the team, much less the greater university.
