SIAP: Michigan announces full capacity for 2021 season

I hope that mr onion dip Barron announces 33% capacity with full masks and proof of vaccination for PSU in 2021. no tailgating, no band or cheerleaders. I mean he has to protect us from ourselves like he has been for the last year. I trust Dr. Barron to watch out for me like the sheeple that I am.

Shame on Michigan putting profit ahead of saving people's lives. Dr. Barron would never be so cruel.

Anybody else in the NLC "insiders" group where they send surveys about psu sports? Not sure how "inside" it is, but the last one (a few days ago) had some questions about how would restricted tailgating affect you attending games, and would you support vaccinated persons only sections.

Crazy. The CDC has lifted all restrictions on outside activity. Why would PSU restrict outside tailgating?

I am, but I missed the first survey email. TOOS has a thread on the questions. Lets just say the questions are telling of what the school is planning. It aint good.

You know no one that has to work on gamedays wants to see tailgating restricted as they would have to be the folks walking through parking g lots and fields trying to get people to stop.

I cannot imagine a more miserable experience as those folks would get so lit up that it would not be a good experience for them.

Only way they can even begin to limit tailgating in full lots is to restrict when folks enter the lord, which would create an entirely different cluster.

I'm in that group and some of the questions were "interesting". So of this is testing the waters just in case but somewhat concerning.

That said, if they have a game with near or at capacity, there is no way they can't have tailgating. Without tailgating means everyone shows in a narrow window versus spreading out the arrivals over many hours prior to kick. This will result in a monumental traffic issue for miles beyond State College. This of leaving a night game but the opposite.

good points. And what is "tailgating?" If I show up in my Chevy Equinox and stand near the trunk for an hour is that tailgating? maybe I just do it at some place near campus? going to be difficult to control.

Barron and Sandy got this, pretty simple answers to your questions.

1. They don't care about you and traffic and how long it takes to get here.
2. They hand out next to no parking passes as if you don't allow people to park, they cannot tailgate.
3. University Park and State College police patrol the lots handing out copious amount of $300 tailgating tickets which pays for all their OT so every cop in town will out there giving tickets.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Agreed. With everything opening up, those questions we were alarming and really made no sense.

110,000 fanatics, the winningest CF program of all-time, and a top 2 or 3 HC,,,,,,,it just doesn't get any better, Let me repeat: the winningest program of all-time. GO BLUE, 2021 is the year

I will not attend under those restrictions. All mandates need to end with full capacity. This has gone on way too long.

Fanatics? You mean one of quietest stadiums in the country with capacity exceeding 80,000.

Seems to be a fight between PSU and Rutgers for last state to announce full capacity

It’s shocking that both Maryland and Michigan have announced full capacity while Sandy and Barron apparently still can’t figure out what to do. Not a good sign IMO.

Who knows, maybe they do finally join the rest and open it all up but I keep falling back to the season cancelled fiasco of last year. IIRC, PSU publicly claimed they wanted to play but behind closed doors they voted to cancel.

Unbelieveable. This is the entrenched opposition. PSU better not bend to the burrough.
I’m beginning to think that’s what may very well take place.

The longer this decision drags out, the more I can see Barron and Sandy using the State College borough concerns as the excuse to limit attendance and ban tailgating.

I’m not sure how much longer they can delay this decision. We have to be getting near a deadline just for logistical reasons in preparing for the season.

You’re mistaken. Sandy and barren are leadering. They are approaching a challenging situation in these difficult times with an abundance of caution because they care more. 🥰

Considering stadium is not in the Borough, that shit won’t fly as an excuse.

Well, considering they went along with last years ‘cancel the season’ fiasco, I think they’ve proven they’re good with any excuse. It doesn’t need to be a good one. ;)

who is making this decision? Is this just President and AD? BoT involved? Anyone know the PSU governance on this? Obviously, there was a group that removed it last time, but BIG seemed to be part of that process, and now they are not involved.

Because of high rates of vaccination, the commonwealth’s mask order will be lifted by June 28.
