Wow are O$U fans classless losers.

I have never even heard of anything like this at a PSU game.

Ohio state fans can be an are obnoxious but this is par for the course in every other top flight program. PSU, IMHO, raises above (slightly) and its one of the reasons why I continue to be a huge fan. An example was that I was at the PSU/Michigan four overtime victory a few years back. After we scored to tie the game, there was an egregious hold by a UM OT on one of our DE's with about 35 seconds to go. I spontaneously yelled out "throw the F---ing Flag, ref!" and got a thousand stink eyes from PSU fans in the area. I feel bad about it to this day. Regardless, if you go to other venues you get this. Eagle, Steeler and Browns fans see this on a weekly basis. Regardless, if you google it, you'll find plenty of PSU fans being drunk and obnoxious.

We have asshole fans as well. To assume Penn State fans have never acted aggressively is patently false.

Quite true, but there is something about OSU fans. They just seem to take ugliness to a different level. Once at a PSU-OSU game in Beaver Stadium I had this vile female Buckeye sitting behind me. She stood up and booed during the pre-game when the Blue Band played the Penn State Alma Mater. I heard a constant barrage of F-bombs the entire game. From a chick...who was not on her home turf...and not sitting amongst her own. I wasn't sure if I should have been impressed or disgusted.

You should have thrown up on her

It is kind of funny that Michigan fans are now saying it’s just a game (not capitalized) after they keep getting killed. Are you sure it’s not The Game - just a game?

OMG the Buckeye Stadium announcer was recognizing the SR. Cheerleaders and announcing their home towns.
Will the horror never stop.
Man this guy sounds like a "snowflake". What a whiner.

You had to read his follow-up tweet. His point was that Tosu athletic supporters booed cheerleaders identified as being from Michigan. In other words:

Announcer: "John Doe, Battle Creek, Michigan"

Tosu athletic supporters: "Boooo! #$%@#! @##*!"

Every fan base has their share. The arrogance that others see in us comes from the claims of many of our fans that we have far fewer assholes and are in a class above the rest. In reality we are pretty much the same.

Exactly. Plenty of OSU fans or band members probably had similar thoughts in 2005. Heck, many PSU fans defend the incident at the fraternity involving OSU fans that was caught on video because it was a Pitt student that threw the final beer can.

We have urine filled balloons for this very purpose. Did you forget yours?

IDK what happened with the OSU band in 05? And I'm talking about what actually happened not some internet rumor.
I don't remember the incident with the frat boy beer can the way you do. Most were simplying pointing out that it was a PITT fratboy and not a PSU fan and were defending PSU not the incident.

Please tell us what you think happened with the OSU band in 2005.
In their walk to the stadium, they had fans heckling them and darting in and out thru their “march”. And, when they performed during pregame, they were greated by ~15k students chanting “**** Ohio”, who then turned their backs and gave the middle finger thru their performance. Leaving the stadium, they again met a lot of hostile/heckling fans while walking back to their busses. It was a bad combo of too many drunks and not enough security for them (though sad that they’d need more security).

The urban legend of the urine balloons isn’t true, but there is a reason that their band hasn’t returned since 2005. And it’s sad/unfortunate that our fans treated them poorly enough to make this the case.

If you keep a couple of water balloons filled with pee in your pockets, I’ve found that it quickly diffuses situations like these. Plus the green coats don’t notice them with their fake pat downs.

I can address the bolded part above because that day I was in the west lot which was absolutely jammed with tailgaters, so much so that it would have been difficult for two people to walk side by side. As the OSU band marched toward the stadium, for some reason they thought it was a good idea to go through the west parking lot. Maybe someone from PSU told them to do it or maybe they misunderstood the directions. In any case, imagine a band formation of I'm guessing around 300 people trying to march through a parking lot, which would have been hard for two people. The band broke into a number of serpentine single file lines which were forcing their way through a multitude of crammed tailgates. As you can imagine, people weren't happy to have their pricey tailgating areas trampled by a sudden deluge of band members. No doubt they heard some expletives. I'm also sure they had a cup or two of beer thrown their way which then morphed into the urine balloon fantasy.

So it's not accurate to claim the OSU band was innocently marching toward the stadium while PSU fans were harassing them by darting through their formation. It's actually pretty cool to see the other school's band march by. Had they stayed on University Drive then went up Park Ave. there never would have been an issue.

I'm talking about defenses like "You have no idea what those OSU fans did before the camera started rolling, maybe there is a reason everyone cheered. Maybe they assaulted a female? Maybe they tossed a urine filled balloon in to the crowd? Why do you ASSUME that they were just walking through minding their own business, and were assaulted because of the color of their jersey?" and " The "fraternity incident" you refer to was actually perpetrated by a Pitt fan. Look it up." (I'll admit these are just quotes from one poster, but I've heard many defenses thru the years with the "it was a Pitt student that did it" to try and minimize how bad it was)

I don't know if the urine balloon story is true or not, but it has been reported as true (link) and the fact that so many here seem to revel it it's mention lends credence to the reports that it happened.

If true, it was never reported to any staff at the stadium, anyone in the Athletic Department, or to the police. That is what tells me that it was an urban legend. As I’ve said, their band was treated horribly, but the balloon story is BS as far as I can tell.

I hope it did not happen, but if you do a search for "Penn State Ohio State urine filled balloons" you will get lots of links treating it as if it did. That aside, in 40 years of attending Penn State games, home and away, I have seen lots of disgusting behavior by both our fans and those of other schools. Generally speaking, we are no better or worse, but too many here think we are above it all. We are not.

Can you actually fill a balloon with urine? If so, how? Could a female do it?

Did anyone else notice this tweet? That couldn't really be true could it? I've been told that only Penn State did that kind of thing.

OSU fans also threw bags of piss at the UT fans during the game and the OSU school president at that time had to issue an apology...

It could only be done with a funnel and would need to be done ahead of time. It's not as though a guy can say something like, "Hey, there's the OSU band. Give me a balloon so I can piss in it!" That's why the 2005 story is nothing but a fantasy. Even the people who keep pushing the narrative know it's false.

Honestly, if someone wanted to throw a liquid filled balloon it would be much easier to fill it with water. But that's not what some people want to hear.

Pee into a turkey baster, insert the baster into the balloon. Wala.....the target, please.

Caution, only to be used on targets with their nose pointing to the sky and their head stuck up their ass.

Don't forget the clean the baster before returning it to the kitchen.

You’re the one trying to defend the PSU fans in the frat incident and rationalize why the OSU fans deserved it. It’s not even worth arguing with you, since your views are so skewed...

Fair, the logistics alone...smh.

I find it incredibly self-serving for OSU or UM fans or anyone to talk about the 'hostile' environment at Beaver Stadium. The town and its fans have been literally pussy cats for years. It was as if our fans didn't understand the true meaning of conference hatred until we were in the conference a full 10 years. Has anyone on here been to Columbus? My god. The Hbg Alum chapter stopped going because of the behavior at their hotel the night before the game. PSU fans have long been pushovers, nice guys, goody two shoes, whimps even and yes hospitable when it comes to hosting games. Have times changed and are more young people less accommodating? Probably. But Happy Valley is still one of the great, if not the greatest, locations for college football on the planet. Yet we have to debate it and talk about balloons.

I honestly wonder if some of the “fans” on this board have ever gone to a game. We go out of our way to make opposing fans comfortable. We cheer very loudly for our own team. Some of the self-loathing from these guys is sad.

Every fan base has their share. The arrogance that others see in us comes from the claims of many of our fans that we have far fewer assholes and are in a class above the rest. In reality we are pretty much the same.
Every fan base also thinks they don’t act poorly. I lived in WV for years and heard how great opposing fans were treated. I went to games (and had no dog in the fight so I wore something neutral) and saw many opposing fans treated like crap. Penn State is no more arrogant in this regard than any other fan base.

Some observations:

Alabama has the best fans. I've gone twice. Those people are awesome. Saw me in my PSU gear with my friends.

Welcomed us and wished us a good game. We'd walk by a tailgate party and you couldn't get 5 feet before someone would ask you to come in, have a drink or some food.

It is easy to focus on the bad behavior of others. But we should take a second to recognize those who behave properly. And to the Alabama fan base, I say: Roll Tide!

I see you are still trying to misrepresent my position. I was hoping that in all that time you would have slowly re-read my posts with a focus on comprehension. Why do you engage people in conversation and then not read what they post? It’s kinda the point, and you would definitely learn something. I guess your view is too skewed to consider other views?
