Sorry if someone already posted this. I am excited about what they are doing. I think by 2020/2021 this group will be established together. A lot of European players, which is what Jurgen was going for, and rightly so. It is the only way the yanks will be competitive internationally. Very excited about the defense and McKennie and Weah playing together. Might have to go see them in May in Philly against Bolivia.

Goalkeepers: Alex Bono (Toronto FC; 0/0), Bill Hamid (Midtjylland; 5/0), Zack Steffen (Columbus Crew SC; 1/0)

Defenders: Cameron Carter-Vickers (Ipswich Town; 1/0), Eric Lichaj (Nottingham Forest; 14/1), Matt Miazga (Vitesse; 4/1), Shaq Moore (Levante; 0/0), Erik Palmer-Brown (Kortrijk; 0/0), Antonee Robinson (Bolton Wanderers; 0/0), Jorge Villafana (Santos Laguna; 15/0), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle; 49/0)

Midfielders: Tyler Adams (New York Red Bulls; 2/0), Marky Delgado (Toronto FC; 0/0), Weston McKennie (Schalke; 1/1), Darlington Nagbe (Atlanta United; 24/1), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders; 2/0), Kenny Saief (Anderlecht; 1/0), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC; 3/0), Tim Weah (Paris Saint-Germain; 0/0)

Forwards: Andrija Novakovich (Telstar; 0/0), Rubio Rubin (Club Tijuana; 4/0), Bobby Wood (Hamburg; 36/10)

Very intrigued by Tim Weah. I was worried he would play for Liberia, ya know, since his dad is the president of Liberia. But he picked us since he lived here till about 13.
He is actually getting playing time at PSG which is very encouraging.

I would have liked to have someone like Matthew Olosunde on defense instead of Lichaj or Villafana. I have absolutely no idea why they are there. They will be 33-34 by the time the next world cup rolls around, provided qualify.

I am still breathing a sigh of relief that Bruce Arena is gone. I detest that man. His squad would have had Demarcus Beasley on the squad.

It's just nice to see the US sending more and more kids overseas to get better. It was also nice to see Cameron call out Bruce for his MLS love affair.

Ugh Bruce, I hate his face, I hate his voice, I hate his arrogance. I was sick to my stomach when they brought him back.
Why on earth would you not want players who are playing at the top leagues in the world?

Would European teams shun NBA players in the basketball world cup? Of course not, because that would be stupid.

MLS is growing and I would love for it to be a top league one day. It is on its way.
But the money just isn't there yet and if the money isn't there, you aren't going to have top players.

Yeah, if I never see Bruce again that would be fine. I think the level of MLS is being brought up with all the international talent playing here now that just want a less scrutinized career and life in the USA.

I don't see Christian Pulisic on your list of players anywhere... he plays for Dortmund, correct?

He wasnt called up for this friendly because Dortmund plays Bayern next week and they want him ready. I can't stress how great of a reason that is to not have a player available for a friendly.
Meanwhile, Columbus loses their captain and their goalie for this week's match with DC. Of course, we're likely going to lose our whole team soon...

My problem is that the “young” players on that roster, with the possible exception of Weah, are still not getting playing time with top clubs. Miazga (Chelsea) and Carter-Vickers (Tottenham) both left for two of the top teams in the EPL and are now playing in lower tier leagues. I am not convinced leaving to play in lower divisions in Europe is demonstrably better than staying in MLS.
