If Chance goes to PSU, Hall probably doesn't today. Did that one work out or what? (That being said Chance could still be outstanding at '65 when Ringer leaves)

I was disappointed when we lost Chance. But I'd take Nolf over Chance as my future 157/165 pounder.

Agreed. Up until their senior year of HS you probably couldn't find a person outside of the Nolf family that would have agreed. By the end of their senior year though, I think Jason was the most impressive wrestler in PA that year. I know Chance was undefeated, and that's incredible. But Jason only lost 1 match and was a 3x champ who looked more dominating than anybody in the state that year. I really do think that Jason Nolf is the better college wrestler right now.

Financially, we'll never know. But we all know Cael would find a way to make a competitive offer.

Lineup wise, completely disagree. I think Hall likely never wrestles 165 in college, and Marsteller definitely never wrestles 174.

Performance-wise, Hall and Marsteller were at the same weight at World Team Trials this summer -- and Chance had a full year in the Okie State room. We saw how their head-to-head matches went. Cael would not ignore that.

Today was a great day for PSU. Hall is the consensus #1 recruit. We all seem rather giddy that PSU was able to land him.

On the other side of the prism, PSU has shown repeatedly that they'll go all-in on elite guys. PSU made a late run at BoJo. They also showed interest in Myles Martin (an interesting post from his dad on the Ohio Wrestling message board). Last year they quietly made a very serious push for the Valencia brothers. If a few of those guys had opted for PSU, it might have been a lot tougher to land Mark Hall.

CS and staff don't win every recruiting competition, but they have won enough to assemble a pretty amazing wrestling team.

Myles Martin's dad posts on several boards. He's a bit of a cry-baby and excuse-maker (e.g. Flo threads on Zahid Valencia-Martin matches).

I'll be glad to read a few links if you posted them.

That's a good one to start. Mr. Martin in the thread on their match for Who's No 1 starts a post by blowing off the result (his son lost again to ZV) by saying it was just an exhibition during football season.

I applaud our frequent visitor Papa Bear for his approach. Generally wrestling parents should read more and post less - one's bias will often paint you into corners.

As an aside, here's a funny bit about Spencer Lee:

The world didn't end!! Hall's mind been made up and he dragged it out which to me was a waste of any coaches time! to each is own but Let's get Spencer Lee who I believe is looking to commit early without all the hoopla!

Yeah, good luck with that.

After the Iron Man Finals this past weekend I was a little reluctant to say anything because I didn't want to come off as a bitter parent or sound as though I was just saying Myles got cheated because he is my son!! I want to assure anyone that was not the case at all and I wanted folks to get a chance to watch the match for themselves because this was politics at its best The kid Myles wrestled was going for his 4th title at this event and they brought back David Taylor who was the only 4 time winner ever to present him a award so I guess they wanted to make sure it happen by any means necessary In the final overtime they called the quickest stalemate ever when Myles could of kicked out, they refused to call locked hands when Myles could of escaped and then they called a quick stalling call when Myles could of kicked out again! Mind you it was 2 officials not 1 but 2!! All throughout the tournament and the week leading up to the match they kept announcing that he was going for his 4th title! I'm convinced now more than ever that they had their mind made up from the very start!! I was so proud of my son because although he was disappointed he took it on the chin and acted like a true gentleman that he is!! I don't know if I will be around to see it but God has great things in store for this young man!! I forgot to mention as the finals was going on for some reason the directors let the fans rush to the side of the mat distracting the officials as well They had to now worry about crowd control and the match This was so unprofessional at any tournament let alone a big national tournament like this!!

I have a pretty good hunch that "they will bring back David Taylor" when Spencer Lee visits Penn State as well, because "they will want to make sure it happens by any means necessary." That will obviously be "politics at its best."

Woof.

Marsteller continues to struggle at OKSU. He coukd gave fit in nicely at 165 this year. And even last although it appears CS likes to use RS as early as possible.

I'm not going to be a bitter parent ..... But I'm going to be a bitter parent

The gist of his posts on the Ohio board from the past 24 hours: He hated Penn State when he visited and there is something rotten beneath the glittering gold of the PSU program that he was able to detect because of (a) his superior spirituality and (b) a conversation with Ed Ruth's mom. He doesn't offer particulars on what's rotten but it seems to involve video games.

in fact Smith has a decision as little Smith beat him somewhat handily last weekend. Will he pull Little Smith's shirt?

Whenever I hear someone boast about their superior spirituality, I check to see if my wallet is missing ;)

Martin hated PSU? Based on Ed Ruth's mom? Dude is a nut case! The one positive that has come out of all the JS crap has been the fact that the entire PSU athletic department and all teams have been under enormous scrutiny by a lot of different elements and if there were any unusual stuff going on it would have come out pretty quickly. Nothing. Notta. So these kinds of statements have absolutely no merit!

Things not working out for Chance. Even after Dieringer clears out at 165 next year, Chance could run into Little Smith at 157 or even 165.

A complete guess, but I wonder if Chance may be on his way to a Clarion or Edinboro type school at some point just to wrestle regularly.

I have it on pretty good word that Jim Martin loves PSU. So does Dr. Tom. There's another Martin?

I suspect "superior spirituality" is code for "hates Mormons." Or "spiritual but not religious." Or both.

"Conversation with Ed Ruth's mom" cracks me up. The obvious retort is: what does Campolattano's mom think about Ryan? Not to pick on Ryan here (for a change), just noting that you can find something negative about anyone if you want.

Superior spirituality may mean you think Dinosaurs walked the earth with men or that the fossil record is a lie.
