Saw an article today calling it one of the worst movies of the year. Sorry.

a reviewer that I would not have a high opinion of.

Quick review: go see it. 4 to 4.25 out of 5 stars. Very entertaining. Meshes very well with the original Star Wars. A number of surprises in it. And like most Star Wars movies, a few scenes where you think, well duh, that was pretty predictable (to everyone in the theatre, but not to those that wrote the plot). If you're a Star Wars fan, you will really like this movie. If you have not seen the original Star Wars, this movie will probably be somewhat baffling.

I'll try to write more about it on Friday. That's my very quick review.

So it's a Star Wars movie AND a battle of stars by the reviewers. I sense a Force on this Board!

Just got back and liked it a lot. If you are a star wars fan you will definitely enjoy it.

Great non-spoiler review...I am headed up to NYC in the morning to spend weekend with my 15 yr old daughter and I have reserved tickets at IMAX viewing Friday night at Times Square theater. She and I went to see TFA same theater same night last year. I've had tomorrow night circled on calendar for a year.

One question. Is it the same movie all over again? Bad guys build big bad ship, good little guys try to blow it up. Throw in a few action scenes and call it a new movie.

When a movie has an 85% on rotten tomatoes and a critic decides to call it one of the worst movies of the year, he/she has some agenda in doing so. Guessing it has to do with this being the biggest commercial movie of the year and being contrarian, for a variety of reasons.

Told from the rebels perspective. It's actually a little grittier than other Star Wars movies. If you are the kind of person who gets a chubby seeing a light saber turn on, then , you may be a little disappointed. As stated previously, the battle scenes were terrific. Some old friends do make appearances, however.

The same basic plot all over again? No, not at all.

There are some elements that are standard for all Star Wars movies. On a broader scale, you could say that most stories have the same standard elements: hero(es), antagonist(s), overcoming odds, physical/emotional attraction, etc.

Rogue One is a good story on its own. As an explanation of what took place leading up to the original Star Wars, it's a very nice addition.

There are no Jedi in this film because they are in hiding.

I found it a bit slow, almost dozed off a few times. In all it was not a bad (first 3 episodes) movie, nor was it a great movie (Ep 5, 4, 8). It did a decent job of filling in the void between ep3 and ep4. It showed that the Death Star is more than a planet vaporizer. Did not like the Pompeii type ending (must have been thrown in there for the ladies).

Ugh. Will Star Wars ever end? That's a fantasy world I want to live in. Proceed with the light sabre attacks.

saw last night

excellent film, good action, GMT reprise is technologically amazing. The sense of urgency and desperation in the final act was extremely well potrayed
