So about Pitt and Syracuse . . . ignominious record . . .

I'm sure the ACC regrets inviting the three Yankee schools to join. All three lost last weekend with Syracuse going down to MTSU.

Pointing at the ACC when we have Rutgers (or Rutgres if you believe the uniform).

Pitt does win football games and simply is not a doormat. They do reasonably well in other sports.

Syracuse is currently a doormat in football but they are far from that is BBall, Soccer, Women's Hockey and others

Rutgers is an entire doormat.

And both Syracuse and Pittsburgh are far better away games. I would have taken Syracuse in a heartbeat over Rutgers and put NYS in the cable footprint.

Pitt should have broken this streak in 2012. They had an easy OOC schedule excepting Notre Dame and they had a chance to win that one.

Possible reasons

1. Pitt plays a vastly superior ooc compared to everyone else in the country.
2. For the past 27 years, they needed to game plan exclusively for Penn State each year so that they need to play a vanilla scheme against all their other ooc.
3. If only refs would call other team's receivers for pushing off.
4. Duzzi broke his headset and the Pitt athletic department can't afford to buy a new set.
5 Potential recruits are intimidated by the idea of playing in a real NFL stadium so they don't go to Pitt.
6. Putt's academic requirements are so high that no normal recruit can qualify.
7. The NCAA won't let the Golden Showers (oops meant Panther) Club operate despite allowing every other college in the country to have one.
8. Edward Michaels knew.
9. The yellow glare off the empty seats at Heinz make it difficult to play there

The statement that Pitt does reasonably well in other sports is simply not true. They had a decade plus of being pretty good at Men's Basketball but that's it and has now fallen to their normally abysmal standards. In Learfield last year Pitt was 3rd from bottom in P5 teams and that's pretty normal for them. Their athletic programs, overall, are atrocious.

I stand corrected. Then not grabbing Syracuse was the mistake despite how their football team is doing. Rutger and Pitt have no redeeming athletic value

Beat me to it. Their athletic program is a joke. They have NEVER won an NCAA national championship in any sport.

I know the ridiculousness of the allegedly numerous national titles in football, but doesn't the 1976 undefeated Pitt football team count as an NCAA national championship?

Division I FBS football is the only National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sport for which the NCAA does not sanction a yearly championship event.
