So I’m in PITTSBURGH. [insert the face here] .

Second for Bea’s Taco Town.

If you’re still looking for coffee  I’d recommend Espresso a Mano on Butler Street in Lawrenceville.

FUTBOL.

I’m at Heinz Field for tonight’s Borussia Dortmund-Benfica match. My wife is from PITTSBURGH. , so we took some time to drive around this afternoon. oakland is still a dump. Did they fire the people who were supposed to clean it up?

The dahntahn area is great. The rivers, bridges, Mt. Washington, Inclines, etc. make Pittsburgh one of the beautiful cities in the U.S. Vastly underrated.

As for Heinz Field, they have a giant pitt 2018 banner hanging on the side near Gate A. The ASS. BEATING. at the hands of Penn State is not far off.

My wife and I will stay for a couple of days to see friends. Maybe we’ll hit Primanti Bros.

FUTBOL. FUSSBALL.

How are the discos?

How are the discos?
Good, except I panicked at one.
How about the “Disco Biscuits”?

My wife and I ended up in McCandless this evening into the night. We started at Convive Coffee. Good mocha latte. My wife enjoyed a pour-over coffee. We shared a blueberry muffin (warmed).

Next, we walked around the shopping center (McCandless Crossing), as it was a nice evening. We decided to check out the Dick’s ( ). It was mentioned here recently that the Dick’s ( ) in Robinson had the Penn State Barkley T-shirt. The store in McCandless did not have it. In fact, they did not have a single Penn State item. They had a section of pitt crap in a back corner. No Penn State merchandise, but pitt? Do they hate money?

After Dick’s ( ), we enjoyed BJ’s for dinner. BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. Good food. I had a BBQ chicken salad ( ), while my wife had a BBQ bacon burger.

We were looking for a low-key night, and McCandless delivered. Tomorrow, we will head to the Duquense Incline and lunch somewhere atop Mt. Washington before hitting the road.

Lattes and salads with Dicks and Bj's sandwiched in between? This clearly isn't good.

Lunch at Altius today, you’ll enjoy it! I had a brew at BJ’s last night after slamming balls  at the driving range!

I remember Altius being mentioned in another thread here recently. The comments were favorable for the most part, so I'll discuss it with my wife. Thanks!

We'll pass on Altius this trip. The menu looks more like dinner. Impressive menu for sure. My wife is on board for dinner the next time we are in town.

Where at, Pine Creek? Looks like they are building a miniature golf course there. Welcome to 1971.
Although Pine Creek is slightly closer to home, I choose to practice at PA Golf Academy. Pine Creek is a construction zone now with the mini golf going in, there mats are ancient and you are lucky to find a mat that is level. Also, BJ’s Brewhouse is conveniently located between PAGA and home. ;)

If you want something quick and a great burger, find a Burgatory.

Thanks. We had dinner at the one in Robinson with a friend a few years ago. Yes, great burger. There is one in McCandless Crossing, but we opted for BJ’s instead last night.

My wife and I are back in NEW. JERSEY. . We had a good final day in Pittsburgh yesterday. We started at Starbucks ( ) for lattes ( ) and Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania collector mugs ( ). We also grabbed a handful of plastic straws to toss in the Monongahela. Here are the mugs we bought:

Next, we went over to Station Square and took the Monongahela Incline up to Mt. Washington. It was a beautiful day to be up there. While up top, we grabbed a quick lunch at Redbeard's Bar & Grill. I recommend the pierogies. My wife liked the boneless wings, and I had a good burger.

We then took the incline back down and walked around Station Square. As many of you locals may know, most of the retail stores have left Station Square. We asked one of the few proprietors left what had happened. In addition to stating the obvious, which is ever-increasing competition from e-commerce (DISRUPTION. ), he said that UPMC had taken over the building and was going to convert it to a training center. The gentleman we spoke with said that he will combine his retail space with another proprietor, but otherwise, there will only be restaurants there. It is sad to see, but not at all surprising these days. I'm sure rent at Station Square is exorbitant.

We enjoyed the fountain and some classic rock being played at Station Square and then hit the road. It was a low-key few days, but we enjoyed our first trip to Pittsburgh in nearly two years. We saw the sites, saw friends, saw FUTBOL. , did a bit of shopping, and ate well.

Thanks for indulging me and for offering good commentary the last few days. :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first-time visit to the Burgh Bob and I enjoyed reading your exploits and was encouraged by your lack of outrage.

I would venture to guess that you and your wife did not experience any lengthy periods of time that you did not see any of the denizens wearing Steelers, Penguins or Pirates attire.

Thanks for doing the "straw thing" in the Mon. I was busy this morning and wasn't able to make my quota. I did, however, take 50 of their wooden stir thingies and will use them as kindling at the marshmallow roast this evening. Why is there no outrage over the number of trees Starbuck's kills with their wooden stir thingies?

Oh no, not my first time to Pittsburgh. Far from it. My first trip there was with the Blue Band for Penn State's win over pitt at pitt stadium in 1989. I've been there many times since on business and pleasure. My wife is from Pittsburgh.

My OUTRAGE. was mitigated by the good weather, food, friends, sights, and lattes. I also enjoyed my first professional FUTBOL. match. Good time.
