So I briefly turned on the CBS Sports College Football Preview show tonight at 7:00, . . .

and one of the analysts said that even if PSU goes 11-1, they would be the first team out if IU beats OSU. I just can’t believe that.

Did not hear your reference, but to me what he is really saying is that no conference should have four representatives. (Any comments on the SEC? Did he say four from the SEC would be OK?)

To think the guy gets paid for that kind of drivel. There is absolutely no way that would ever happen.

It is such an idiotic statement. So Indiana beats OSU and Penn State never played Indiana but they are going to randomly punish Penn State by dropping them from 6th to out of the playoff picture. Meanwhile letting two loss SEC teams with bad losses......looking at you Ole Miss and Tennessee be in the playoff. And other two loss SEC teams. This is just an insanely bad take that is dead wrong. Only an SEC homer could dream up that kind of crap.

Ok, everyone without a loss to an unranked team stand up.

Not you, Alabama or you Ole Miss. Georgia barely has an argument - they were, what’s the word, “uncompetitive” in half of their Alabama loss and their entire Ole Miss loss.

It's not even that--it's that anyone is dumb enough to think a team is going to fall 8-9 spots by winning out

They aren't going to fall 8-9 spots by winning out. They wouldn't even fall 8-9 spots with another loss.

I think they could fall 5 or 6 spots with a loss and that could knock them out of the playoff. It all depends what other teams do down the stretch.

We aren't falling that far with another loss--I swear you all are so angry about Ohio State getting in over us you refuse to be realistic
We're about as safe as any team in the country--only Oregon is in better shape right now. Arguably Ohio State but only Oregon.

IMO the only way PSU is a lock with two losses is if we end up in the CCG and lose a close one.

A loss to Purdue, Minnesota, or Maryland would be very troublesome.
If we made the CCG we could lose by 50 and still have a home game but us making that is like a 2% chance
Losing to any of those teams isn't "troublesome" in this era--the Big Ten and SEC have a ton of room for error--especially Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Georgia, etc. Don't let Georgia being out today confuse you--they're still in great shape.

If Penn State wins out, they’re in….period. If they lose one of the next 3, there’s a very good chance they’re out.
— SEC’ers are soiling themselves because 4-6 of their “good” teams will have 2 ( or 3) losses, and many will stay home in lieu of 1 loss teams . — the rationalizing has started.
Penn state just needs to stay focused and win. They’ll be seeded in the 5-8 range with home field

Shame on all of us for listening to these talking heads and assuming they know more than us….or the kid who mows our grass or the accountant down the street or your local parish priest. (My priest is a big sports fan, so I know he knows more.)
None of these people have any influence on the committee making the final decision. I’m sure the committee will weigh all the evidence and come up with a pretty fair bracket.
Still a lot of football left to play. It PSU loses another game on its remaining schedule, it has no right to bitch about what happens.
