I go on vacation for a week and come back to hear ......................... our OC is history. Quite the surprise.
As I understand it, he is gone and the position is vacant as of right now.
A few thoughts ( based on NO inside information...just my own Life Experiences) :
1. I wouldnt be surprised to hear 1-2-3 other shoes drop....this year or next. .
2. New QB next year is a certainty.
3. My gut says CJF didnt make this decision. I expect he was told to do it NOW. Period. After all, the former OC was his personal choice, #1 on his list of potential OCs.
4. A new OC likely wont catch lightning in a bottle, but rather extend the rebuilding process by at least one year. However it is a good thing, albeit too late for Hack..
5. Any chance CJF will be handcuffed by the admin once the new OC arrives? ie New guy is given autonomy in that area? Not necessarily a bad thing, but a bit worrysome for CJF's longevity.
6. It seems the Big $$$ isnt making anyone in the admin hesitant to make a change, if it comes to that. ie one more average year just might. .
7. The lack of major progress on the offensive side is a sad backdrop on Hack's decision to stay. You gotta feel for the kid. I dont feel for Donovan, who had two years to figure out what hack does best, and to use it properly, and to best advantage. We sure didnt. .
8. The exercise of apportioning blame among Donovan, the QB coach and the OL coach is a futile one - however tempting it is. The highest AHJ gets the blame. And if he stays, then the next highest AHJ gets cut.

9. While Energy is necessary, overpowering energy either infuses or diminishes the various coaching positions. And Loyalty cuts both ways.. Sadly, in two years Ive not seen a lot of good decisions made by the new coaching staff, despite all the hype,.
