You guys have the deets on the additional costs that are a direct result of a singular LIE & a cover-up theory our Commonwealth FAILED TO PROVE in a courtroom - that aren't listed on this graphic?

Thanks in advance - you all are the best. I feel a LTE coming on.
  • Babysitter Mitchell
  • Bowl money lost
  • Cost to Athletics
  • Paterno v. NCAA costs to date
  • Other costs

The "fine" was a wash, because Wolf gave this money back to Penn State. And it wasn't a "fine" the BOT "voted" to give this money to the Commonwealth.

Please explain.

I am in no way a finance major. I see numbers and my eyes start glaze over.

However, I am REALLY PISSED OFF about this epic financial cost to so many - especially when Jack Raykovitz sat on that stand the other day and said what he said in the courtroom.

Initially, when the Corman settlement went down to keep the "fine" in the Commonwealth, 12M was kept for some "prevention program" at PSU. Shortly after Wolf was elected he "gave" 48M to PSU that allegedly was part of what Corbuccigaloop denied PSU. So the "fine" of 48M was a wash.

And I don't know if you noticed but the Sassano entry by Ray is gone from his Blog. And I have no idea what Ray meant about more is to come to confound.

So - the $60 M "NCAA fine" was split :
  • $48 M to PCCD (to be distributed over 5 years in grants )
  • $12 M got funneled right back into another non-profit that PSU owns.
So what is this $48 million Wolf gave back to PSU?

What I'm looking for are just the real costs attached to this epic swindle by Commonwealth prosecutors on a failed case that should never have been birthed. Cuz this was ONE UGLY BABY birthed by Frank Fina and his hard-core porn addled gunslingers.

Let's see - missing the Big 10 stolen funds, Freeh's report, potential Spanier and Paterno lawsuits, cratered donations, suppressed football ticket sales, Senator Mitchell, increased overhead from new compliance positions, lost merchandizing sales, etc.

Let's see - missing the Big 10 stolen funds, Freeh's report $8.3M, potential Spanier and Paterno lawsuits, cratered donations, suppressed football ticket sales, Senator Mitchell, increased overhead from new compliance positions, lost merchandizing sales, etc.

Awesome!

Can you put a pricetag on some of those items if you know that? Thx

I had this stuff added up a year ago (or thereabouts). When I get a chance, I'll see if I can lay my hands on it..........

We gotta be at $500,000,000 by now

Of course, so many of the "costs" - which do have a financial impact - you can never drop a definitive "accounting number" on.
Just the nature of the beast
And so many of the costs are ongoing - - - - what is the head count on "Administrators" who are now on the PSU payroll as a result of "Sandusky"? What do they cost per year? Will those positions EVER go away? Or is this a cost into perpetuity? (One could safely bet on the "perpetuity" option)

Anyway - I'll try to find that stuff

Ruined reputation......................PRICELESS!

Big 10 is $10MM, who knows what Spanier and Paterno would be, but one or both could put MM's to shame. Football ticket sales were about 5-10k at ~$40/ticket plus lost concessions. Mitchell was several million. New compliance positions are $500k+ per year indefinitely.

Let's not forget PSU had to waive all application fees when applications plummeted, and they still haven't started those back up. That's several million per year for the past five years.

And Jack Raykovitz just sat there in Laura Ditka's witness chair...to a Dauphin County jury.......and calmly explained the rationale for his carefully thought out protection plan for Jerry & Second Mile kids going forward.

Former Penn State assistant McQueary gets $1.7M in whistleblower fees

ASSOCIATED PRESS / PUBLISHED: MARCH 31, 2017
SHARE THIS

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A former Penn State assistant coach is getting his legal fees paid after winning a whistleblower claim over his treatment by the university after Jerry Sandusky's child molestation arrest.

Judge Thomas Gavin on Thursday granted Mike McQueary's lawyers $1.7 million for their work on the case.

That's on top of the nearly $5 million Gavin awarded to McQueary in November.

The judge's new order is also giving McQueary $15,000 for a bowl bonus he would have earned if the school hadn't suspended him from coaching after Sandusky's arrest in November 2011. Penn State is also being ordered to pay about $34,000 in other legal costs.

A jury previously granted McQueary $7.3 million for defamation and misrepresentation.

Penn State says its lawyers haven't analyzed the judge's decision on legal fees.

I really feel bad for MSU, Mich, Baylor and even FSU (under Baron's leadership) for the massive fines and criminal charges pending under the new standard of..........enabling. Oh, the the pitch forks outside USA gymnastics/MSU are...........well, there are no pitchforks. Please explain the lack of.............outrage.

I'll NEVER forget that........ though I pretty much expect it.
Actually, closer to the truth to say - after 6 years of seeing what our Politicos/state actors do - I KNOW that's gonna' happen.

But I'll also never forget that Spanier/Silver nodded their heads, scratched their ass, and said :
"OK, that's good by me!!!!!!" :).
.

Would ANY OF US done that?

I know sure as shit you would not have
I know sure as shit I would not have

And I can't view ANYONE who would do that as a "good guy"

If I'm being completely frank..... I can't even view anyone that would do that, as anything other than "an asshole who is part of the problem".....

Oh, the the pitch forks outside USA gymnastics/MSU

Well - the true cost to Michigan State will be stratospheric. 100 women have filed lawsuits, there's the whole Title IX thing, and the guy was an employee sexually abusing students on campus in athletic training facilities

In speaking with some MSU sports media professionals that are well versed in the case and a Lansing reporter doing the investigative series - Penn State's "scandal" has been so far eclipsed by Nassar's alleged crimes in their community - we are just a tissue out the car window on the Atlantic City Expressway.

However, their Board did not wet themselves, panic, go into radio silence, panic more, throw their respected admins under the bus and hire Freeh.

O/T - but yes, I should have approached Dr. Jack back in Nov 2012 when I saw him in the flesh at the Autoport. Drinking with his "doctor friends" and hanging all over the server.

Any outbursts in the courtroom during Spanier's trial would have resulted in 6 months jail time.

Which means I would have totally missed the swim suit season. :)

Anyone know what the commonwealth spent to prosecute and obtain these 3 misdemeanors over the past 6 years? I really want to know. Anyone have shapiro's email address?

I don't know the numbers but they've gotta be the most expensive misdemeanors in state history. And he had the gall to stand up there and take a victory lap after going 3/24 overall and 0/14 on the felony charges. What a colossal waste of state time and $$$!! Smh

not to worry, there are always useful toadies like Toxine who see this as a major validation of the false narrative

That's because MSU's board didn't have a money laundering scheme via a charity for troubled youth to hide!

Yet MSU's president still has her job.

If none of this crap happened the $60M would still be in the athletic department. It was the athletic department that had to pay the $60M via a "loan" from the university. Because of the narrative that it was the fault of the football program

Did they sue MSU or US Olympics? Every time a see a news piece on Nassar, they never even mention MSU--it's an olympic problem.

I am not a math major either, but I do know that these figures add up to over $200 Million. That's just the monetary side of JS's actions. In addition to this, he ruined several boy's lives forever, he killed what was supposed to be a wayward boy's organization, shortened the life of Joe Paterno, caused 3 people to face criminal charges and nearly took down Penn State single handedly. Very sickening!

The 93 million is what is known, correct? We're there not closed door sessions where a much larger sum was discussed and approved in a couple of instances?

They will also let their insurance be involved and pay for it.

Paying for defense for Schultz and Curley? Hate to add that in but you can phrase it as in to fight bogus charges?

Incidental Cost of 2 years+ delay by NCAA of funds to PA at risk kids/victims of abuse

of $60M PSU "donation" (need date NCAA first filed against McCord? and I believe the end date was 01/15/2015 or thereabout.)

NCAA filed shortly after Endowment Act passed 2013 and then Corman and McCord counter-sued.

Don't forget the interest the AD has to pay internally for this " Loan"

What was the actual amount of Rodney's "Rainy Day Fund to take care of these things" and how soon did it dry up? Was it "all a distant memory by 2014", Ms Peetz ?

Yes, there are. Daily. You are just not tracking them. Media even tried to go after Karolyis in TX. I'm tracking three law firms who are blasting/bombarding media daily all over the country who plan on cashing in: John Manly of CA-just tried to use Spanier to buttress his case. Grewal Law and White Law, LLC.

Donations totaled over $2.2 billion in the fund raising campaign which spanned the 2011 events. I believe it was about a six or seven year long campaign which ended around 2015. I know their goal was $2 billion and they exceeded that. I'm not sure how one quantifies impact on donations. Some people clearly cut back or quit while others stepped up in defense of the university. Btw these numbers are generally driven by very large donations - those of $100k - to a million or more, rather than the many who might give or withhold a few thousand or less.

We also don't know the amount the insurance covered after PSU settled the case against them. I believe it was not a large proportion of the total.
