Some positive comments for Dabo and Urban

I think he's saying "EVERY FBS conference champ should get in" (which gets you to 10 - not counting the Independents....and then add whatever is needed to get to 16)

I could be wrong, as he didn't specify.... but I'd guess that's his contention.

No problem going to ten, and leaving it there. Wanna see how fast ND joins the AAC?

I know lots of people here love to hate on other coaches but there were a few positive nuggets worth mentioning this weekend.

If you didn't see it, a Clemson player mixed it up with a Louisville player over the weekend and threw a punch. Dabo had the player immediately escorted into the locker room even before the officials made a penalty announcement (which they did, and ultimately ejected the player as well). Then Dabo made the player ride the bus back to Clemson with the team managers, while the rest of the players flew back. The bus ride was 450 miles. I'd imagine a suspension is likely coming too. Good on Dabo.

Then we also have Urban trashing the subjectivity in the playoff rules under the current system. He even admits he's made decisions about keeping starters in games for "eye test" purposes because of this system, and that he'd like to see something more defined take it's place. You can watch his rant here: .

Can you blame Urban for wanting to inject some objectivity into the process! I mean c'mon, fellas. Currently we've got gaggle of people meeting in a closet who determine the top four, to include a former Secretary of State! Why not include Bashar al-Assad?! We need an eight-team playoff and, if necessary, shorten to regular season in order to accommodate it. Do it for the players' welfare as a minimum. Do you feel?

Make it an 8 team playoff system. Conference champions are all in and seeded first. Then the committee selects the others and they are seeded lower. 1vs8, 2vs7,3vs6, 4vs5. Quit playing games with it and reduce the influence of the committee.

Take it out of the hands of the committee. That's the key. 8 candidates should pretty much do it. I cannot believe Condoleeza Rice knows more about football than 90% of the posters here. WTF! I would put Stormin Norman up against her in a bar brawl.

Dabo is the best time spent listening when he’s on the radio. Pulling the player out of the game is exactly how he sounds.

Why would they have to shorten the regular season? They just keep increasing the length of the season. Now they’ve added two bye weeks...they also added conference championship games....the season is way longer now then it used to be and no one seems to upset about it.

That seems like a jab at herbie. He as the one that said it in 2016.
Urban: “Can you promote an “eye test” on TV?” Herbie: “Great idea Coach! Let’s do it.” Urban: “I can deliver it by keeping our starters longer than I should”. Herbie: “I’m on it”. Maybe not throwing Herbie under the bus! Maybe he was in the front seat of Urban’s bus. OK, it’s tic :D

Herbie said it was only because of the blocked field goal. Not mentioning how many points osu had off of special teams that game.

Herbie, who I like, was full of sh&t and the game proves that. We shut tOSU down and sacked the hell out of JT in the 4th. We need 8 teams. Clean and easy. I've heard enough bullsh%t excuses starting with we can't have a playoff. What utter nonsense. Basketball can do 64 plus but football can't do 8? Get real.

Hyperbole Art. Wouldn't expect any coach to do that. Just from a Penn State perspective, there probably isn't a single person less qualified to bemoan the eye test than Urban Meyer. LLP

As someone who has directly benefitted from it, and the person with the absolute most clear understanding of the ability of the team that benefitted, wouldn't he be the single *most* qualified person to bemoan the "eye test" for CFP voting?

When you get down to it, March Madness is a dumb way to crown a champion. Fun, entertaining, but still dumb.

The one problem with conference championships are 1) not every team plays each other during the season and 2a) why should you have to possibly beat a team a second time to win the championship game and 2b) if you lose a championship game to a team you beat during the season, both teams could have the same overall record while being 1-1 against each other.

All that stuff is secondary, and frankly, conference-dependent. Conferences can chose their representative ("champion") however they like, but the point is, each conf gets to send a representative to the dance.

Any issues with the path to the dance, you take that up with the conference.

I'll take March Madness every day. I often hear fans say too many bowls. Why is that? It's the very last game for hundreds of players. Who gets hurt? No one. Fans are full of sh$t like usual. People watch the games, and show up. Some times a lot, some not so much. The players actually enjoy their last games because it's the last time they're together as a team and on the field. I've never seen a player complain about playing in a bowl. The game is about the players, not dumb ass fans. I've been to Fiesta Bowl National Championship games and lowly Belk Bowls. Every one was a great time.

Yes. Qualified was the wrong word.
